Oh Dear... (SH)

[Fluffy]

Hm, what an odd looking creature. It looked, and waddled like a penguin, yet.. It had fur? And what was that thing it was pushing around? Silvery and shiny, and much bigger then the tiny baseball sized bird-thing. However, the tiny thing seemed rather determined to go somewhere, pushing along it's prize. It didn't look lost, but.. Where might the thing be going? Perhaps it fell from it's nest and trying to find it's way back.. But what about that silver egg? Certainly little penguins don't hatch from them.. Or do they?
"Cher cheep!"
The creature called out cheerfully, waddling along and pushing the egg. Rather fearless it was, in such a place! And even in the dim light, that silvery egg gleamed. It was sure to be spotted, but who would get to it first; predators, or Ryuu's search gang?

The egg and creature wenrt to be found for a while though, for they where in a differnt part of the valley to all but Magyk...

Sukai looked around for something to do, and heading off in the opposite direction from where Magyk was (for he was being so enthusiastic in his knocking off the slate, it was flying all over the place.) She noticed there where a lot of stones on the floor. She started using her beak and claws to hook them up but didn’t seem to be finding much, apart from worms which she pecked up. She kept on going all the same but also pecked round and investigated any of the stunted shrubs or plants that she came near. She wasn’t entirely sure what sort of thing she was likely to find there though. Maybe some sort of animal or a nest. Would Ryuu let her eat what she found? Apart from the worms she was eating, she was getting a little hungry.

[~*Ryuu Squall*~]

Ryuu took off the backpack she had carried all this way and, with a sigh of relief, plonked it on a large rock near her. It contained their lunch so Ryuu made sure to put it in a place she could keep an eye on it incase one of the volpes, or some other strange animal tried to eat all the food inside. She had wanted to bring some sort of bait with her to try and draw some animals to her, but since she wasn’t entirely sure what she was going to (hopefully) encounter here, and thus no idea what sort of food they would like, she had had to abandon that idea. Oh well, she better get hunting like her volpes if she wanted to find anything. But where to look? Stormwing had the sky, Magyk the valley walls and Sukai the valley floor. Maybe she should go see if there was a source of water anywhere. She needed a drink and other animals would be hopefully drawn to it.

[~*Ryuu Squall*~]

Stormwing scanned the valley below, noting with contempt the way the dog volpe was scrabbling up the side. He looked stupid and pathetic doing that. What an idiot. What a unworthy idiot. He was snapped away from those thoughts by a movement, quick as a flash he dived down to see what it was but couldn’t tell what had caught his attention a second before. With a faint growl he swooped up into the air, hoping no one had noticed his mistake. He hated being wrong or being caught out by someone and the last thing he wanted was for Magyk to look up at him in contempt. If he did…he would kill him!

[~*Ryuu Squall*~]

It was only when Magyk nearly fell off the valley side that the penguin creature and egg where finally found. As he slipped, he twisted round a little and in the millisecond he was looking that way, noticed the glint of the egg. He had to look away again straight away so he could keep his footing. But once the scree beneath his paws had stopped shifting about, he was able to look round again. For an awful second or two he thought he wouldn’t be able to see it again, but then the crystal egg glinted in the sunlight and he launched himself sideways off the cliff, his feathery wings catching him and stopping him from falling. He flew straight to the egg and little creature, almost landing on them in his excitement, while yelling “I’ve sound something! I’ve found something!”

[~*Ryuu Squall*~]

Sukai, who hadn’t been very far away when she suddenly saw Magyk launch himself into the air, was the first to arrive. She came bounding over, her wings held slightly apart from her body and flapping in excitement. “What is it, what is it?” She yelped. Then she saw the two things right in front of Magyk’s paws. She noticed the gray egg first as it glittered faintly. “Oohh…. Pretty!” Sukai gasped, she loved shiny and glittery things. She didn’t actually have a clue it was an egg, for what egg that she had ever seen was that shape and glittered?
Then she noticed the odd little birdy creature, trying vainly to protect the egg from the two of them, an angry expression on its little face. “Wow, ive never seen one of those before…”

Ryuu was the next on the scene, abandoning her quest for water, at least for now. “What have you got there then, Magyk?” She asked the proud white volpe happily. He stepped aside so she could have a good look at his prize. “A crystal egg-thingy-ma-bob!” She exclaimed very unimpressively. “And a fluffy little penguin creature! Amazing! Good work Magyk!” She scratched him energetically behind the ear, and gave Sukai a scratch under the chin so she wouldn’t feel left out. “I can’t believe you found something so quickly! I wonder what that creatures doing with an egg…” And then Stormwing arrived.

[~*Ryuu Squall*~]

Stormwing landed, making sure the air from his wings buffeted them all before he actually joined them. He tucked in his wings tightly and clicked his beaks angrily. His anger was so much more then it had ever been before, he could hardly hold himself from lashing out at that stupid, too pale, too small, short clawed, no beaked, pathetic excuse for a volpe. Then, when he was close, Ryuu told him happily, “Look what Magyk found!” And with that, he snapped. He sprang at Magyk, his gleaming talons outstretched and his razor sharp beak open, ready for the kill. He let out a blood curdling bird of pray scream. He wanted to do all those things he had imagined doing to the horrible little creature, a thousand times over! He didn’t care what he had to do to kill him, and he defiantly wasn’t bothered about harming what ever it was that precious little Magyk had found.

He had found something! He had found something! And Ryuu was so pleased, and Sukai so impressed! Surely Stormwing must realize know that he was worthy! But when he landed, he defiantly didn’t seem too happy. He seemed even worse then ever in fact. Magyk had no idea why that might be. He couldn’t be jealous that he had found something first, could he? Well maybe it would do him good to see that a normal volpe could sometimes beat even the mighty Stormwing! He looked away from him, casting his eyes back down to his two precious prizes. The crystal, stone, eggy thing was lovely, was it not? And the odd little creature had so much character! It was now trying to completely cover the egg up, despite the egg being bigger then it. How cute.
The first thing he knew of the danger, was the sound of sudden movement and most terrible sound he had ever heard, a shriek of rage that made it seem as though his heart had suddenly stopped.

Sukai had her eyes closed, enjoying being scratched under her chin when her father arrived. Luckily, Ryuu kept scratching her so she had an excuse to keep her eyes closed and ignore her father. If he said something nasty…she didn’t know what she would do but she defiantly would not be very happy! She noticed the unnecessary gust of wind from her fathers wings. What a moody old codger! And then the beak clicking. Ryuu gave her one last scratch and moved her hand away. Pity, she had been enjoying that. Ryuu took a step away from her, towards Stormwing and told him of Magyks success. She was looking away at the time, she had thought she heard a sound behind her but she whipped around at Stormwings call. It was one she had never made before, at least, never as intense and full of rage as this. It was a call that was more then a death threat; it was the promise of imminent murder.

Ryuu hadn’t realized quite how much Stormwing resented and hated Magyk until that moment. That moment being? A split second before he attacked. She saw the murderous intent written all over his face and purple eyes, as she had been looking directly at him at the time and had seen the sudden change. She knew who he was going for, and as he moved, so did she, pushing Magyk out of the way as hard as she could. She was just about to move when she glimpsed the egg and now terrified penguin creature right in front of her. She leaned forward to protect them, and the next instant Stormwing smashed into her. They had done this before while training once, but it had been an accident. This wasn’t. She was flung sideways, though the egg and creature had luckily not been thrown back with her. She felt a stabbing pain to her left cheek, and another to her shoulder before she even landed. As she crashed to a holt, she flung up her hands in front of her face but no more blows came. The heavy weight on her chest that was Stormwing disappeared off her with a snarl too.

Kill him! Kill him! Everything seemed a red haze as he attacked. He smashed into him and clawed and pecked him hard. Then the small part of his brain that wasn’t taken over by this killer madness managed to register something. It wasn’t Magyk he had crashed into, it was Ryuu! Ryuu…what? What had happened? He had been aiming for Magyk, why was Ryuu now beneath his claws. Slowly, the rational part of his brain started to take control. He had attacked Ryuu…his human! (Well mostly human…) Then he felt a pain on his wings and with a shocked snarl he was dragged backwards, falling onto his back and crushing his wings.

One minute he had been all happy and jubilant at his find, the next he was knocked sideways, hard. He tumbled over a few times, feeling quite winded. Once he managed to gasp in a few breaths, he looked up to see Ryuu landing on her back, Stormwing on top of her. Was that blood her saw? He could see Sukai rushing over, and as quickly as he could, he ran after her and once he saw her grab one of Stormwings flailing wings in her beak, he copied, grabbing what he could of the other wing in his jaw. Together they pulled, hard at with and angry shout they managed to get him off Ryuu.
But then suddenly Storwming managed to role over, releasing his wings and allowing him to stand up once again. He lunged forward, towards Magyk once again.

Her fathers call made her jump into action almost immediately and she managed to quite quickly grab hold of one of her father’s wings. He tugged but he didn’t budge. A second later Magyk joined her and together they managed to wrestle him away. Just as she thought it was all over, he got up and lunged at Magyk. She was behind him at time, and with lightning speed, she stabbed her beak towards him and managed to get a beak full of tail feather. Immediately, with and angry screech, Stormwing turned on her and she felt a stabbing pain on her chest.
Without thinking about it, she attacked back, racking him with her claws. The two of them flapped their wings madly and rose into the air. They where both trying to get the advantage of height over the other but where so locked together, clawing and biting that neither could get away from the other.

[~*Ryuu Squall*~]

Ryuu sat up to see that it was Magyk and Sukai who had hauled Stormwing off her. She was in shock, she just couldn’t believe that her beloved Stormwing would ever do anything like this. She found herself just staring up as the two griffons rised into the air, shrieking, clawing and jabbing at each other with their wings. It was so scary…. Those two volpes where so strong... It was just plain terrifying to see them attack each other like that, especially when she knew how much they really loved each other. Truly, she had never seen anything quite like this.
It was only when Magyk threw himself into the air after them that she snapped out of her daze, if just a little. She had to help them. She stood up and tested her dragon’s wings. They felt very crumpled and she hadn’t used them for a while, but that wasn’t going to stop her. After a few good flaps to get the blood flowing through them, she started to run. Her foot hit a rock much higher then the others and she used it to push herself up and into the air.
