Nightfeather x Starheart [Normal][Fin~ <3]

Well, this was certainly interesting. Nightfeather was here, and he wasn't quite sure as to why. True, he loved being outside at all times, but he hadn't seen a certain Volpe around since they had arrived at the Sanctuary of Fire.

Oh, Starheart, where are you? he asked silently as he laid down on the grass, heaving a sigh.

Starheart was actually hiding behind a tree that Nightfeather ended up close to. She smiled brightly as he settled there; maybe now she could actually sneak up on him! Carefully sneaking out from behind the tree, she pounced upon the other Volpe.

"Did ya miss me, Nightfeather?" she asked as she held him down, pinned firmly.

Nightfeather's eyes widened as he was pounced upon, but he didn't make any objections once he caught the scent of the other Volpe. He smiled as he exclaimed, "Starheart! It's been forever since I saw you last!"

Here, he pushed the other Starlight Volpe off of him as he said, "Where have you been, anyways?"

Starheart shrugged as she said, "I've been spending some time with our human. She's not quite as bad as I thought she was at first, actually." Her tails swayed patiently as she said, "At least she got my name right the first time she called my name... otherwise she wouldn't have gotten very far with me."

"You mean she's been training you, Starheart?!"

Nightfeather practically howled this. "Of all the things a Volpe of the EarthSong Pack could do wrong! You went and let a human... train you?" he asked, his voice stern and angry. "Starheart, you know better than that! We do not accept the easy life of... well, a pet."

He spat the word "pet" as though it was a vile poison. What had gotten into she whom he loved?

Starheart blinked as she said, "I didn't let her train me--I figured it would be a better idea to succumb to her wishes rather than force her to teach, say... Ashclaw."

She shuddered as she mentioned the Lioness Volpe. Now she was the definition of a piece of work; no wonder Rainstar and Bravestar tried to avoid her and keep their pups from her. "Plus, I'm still as fiery as ever. I only obey the girl because she adores our type."

Nightfeather spat as Starheart said the name "Ashclaw". "That... that Volpe? Goodness... now there's a Volpe that I would do anything to keep the human away from... even if it means being... trained." He said quietly.

"But... what did she do? I mean, how did she... train you?"

[Firefly]

"Eh, she just said my name a bunch of times and held out little chicken strips for me to get me to respond. I didn't want to take the food, but the smell of it made me so hungry that I wanted to. She also found a way to make me sit and speak"--here, she let out a bark--"on command. I hated having my rump pushed to the ground, but... it was kinda worth it, I guess." Starheart said, licking her paws.

"Fire isn't actually that bad. She just needs to learn that some of us will never change from our wild nature."

"That's the part I worry about. True, she lets us roam free enough, but I don't like how she keeps us all so... close to other Volpes such as Ashclaw. That Lioness is dangerous." Nightfeather said, shuddering as he also licked at one of his paws. This paw had scars on it; it looked like he had gotten into a bit of a scrape with Ashclaw, apparently...

"You... you speak from experience on the topic?!" Starheart exclaimed, looking at the scratches on Nightfeather's paw. Almost instantly, the female was licking at Nightfeather's paw, her hears laid flat against her skull.

"What did she do this time? And why were you to a point where you could have been hurt by her?"

Nightfeather sighed as he said, "Well, y'know how Rainstar and Bravestar came from the same pack, and how they both abandoned the pack for their own reasons? And how there's those Bloodwar Volpes? And, top it off, those new Glamour Volpes?"

He didn't even wait for a response as he said, "Well, one of these Glamour Volpes is known as Oakstar. He had been the leader of that pack that Rainstar and Bravestar came from, and... shall we say that Ashclaw was once a rouge that had crossed their border patrol and had injured the deupty--Rainstar--and Oakstar had sworn revenge upon him. Then, on top of that, there's Darkheart."

"Whoa, whoa, wait. Oakstar and Darkheart? But... that would mean that..." Starheart began to say, her eyes widening. "I know that Oakstar might have something against Ashclaw, of course, but Darkheart... that male just scares me, Nightfeather. Now, please... explain what happened. And then explain what the Bloodwars have to do with this."

Nightfeather drew in a deep breath as he said, "Darkheart wanted to... do away with Rainstar and Bravestar back when they were a part of the rouge pack. And now, he's dutifully followed Oakstar here, back to the EarthSong pack, where Rainstar and Bravestar are the leaders. And... well, Darkheart's taken a liking to Ashclaw."

Here, he paused to catch his breath. "One of the Bloodwar Volpes--Bloodstrike--decided she was gonna tell Ashclaw that I was talking to Rainstar and Bravestar about banishing her... or even killing her."

[Firefly]

Starheart stopped here. "She... what?!" the Starlight Volpe howled, her fur bristling and her claws digging into the ground. "Oh, she better hope she never has a run-in with me, or else I'll teach her to be spreading rumors about Volpes that I love!"

Yes, she realized what she had just said. No, she wasn't taking it back. After all, Nightfeather loved her too.

Nightfeather gently licked at Starheart's ears as he said, "Calm down, Star-love--she wouldn't dare cross either of us after the fight I put up against Ashclaw. She ended up more beat up than I did."

Was he bragging? Of course he was. "Anyhow... what d'ya think of Sandpool and Bramblepool? The new Speckleds?"
