She didn't like this one bit. Lying in the cool grass, Sandy sniffed unhappily, glancing round. Granted, this pretty meadow was a lot warmer than the beach. It got surprisingly nippy there in fall. But it wasn't the temperature that was bothering Sandy, far from it. She knew exactly why she was here. She had no idea who she was going to be here with, but she knew it wasn't Rolo. That bothered her greatly-she loved Rolo, and she didn't like leaving him for any amount of time. Least of all to come here. Clinging to her back was perhaps the softest critter found in the Universe. The Temprus seemed to share its owner's anxiousness, visible by the way its tiny claws were clinging so possessively to her back. Sandy gently signaled for the Temprus to get off, letting out a sigh. She hadn't wanted her to come along, but she had simply refused to stay behind. Sandy had a plan though-she intended to keep the Temprus hidden in the bushes until that plan could be carried out. Lifting her up, she placed her carefully on a bed of moss. Now you stay put She scolded 1

Really, his owner should've known better than to have let him make his own way. He had already been distracted by two butterflies, three dandelions and a cloud shaped like a bowling ball. At this rate he was never going to meet who he had been sent to meet. Idget showed no signs of caring though. Honestly, he had all but forgotten about the arranged meeting. This new place of strange smells and promised prey was much more attractive than the prospect of meeting a new friend, and the excitement had been enough to completely push the meeting out of Idget's head. Ironically, it was yet another distraction that lead him to his destination. Spying an odd flying bug, Idget was quick to leap after it, tail wagging frantically. The hunt made him forget to look where he was going, and with a sharp turn he ended up crashing through some bushes and rolling down a small hill 2

THUD!
Sandy had barely had time to register the black and white lump speeding towards her before she felt it crash, headfirst into her side. Her legs crumpled under her and she flew through the air, landing with a thump on the grass beneath her.
Ouch... She whined, trying to blink away the dizziness she now felt. She could hear the fuzziness of another Volpe's bark, and slowly the black and white shape was beginning to come back into focus. She hadn't been prepared for a shock like this. Seems like her day was just getting worse and worse

It took him a few moments to figure out what had actually happened. Realizing he must've crashed, Idget quickly jumped to his feet and checked himself over. Nothing seemed bruised or broken, which could only be a good sign. What had he bumped into though?
Eyes darting around, they rested on the sight of the Golden Volpe lying on the grass. Something clicked in his mind and recognition spread across his face.
Hello He barked in a friendly way, excitement kicking in You must be who I'm meant to meet! He could remember Kabuto telling him about a K9 Volpe. Clearly this was who she was referring to

Stunned was not the word. Sandy blinked at this strange new Volpe, who had bashed into her so suddenly then acted like it hadn't even happened. She could see him clearly now. He was a Panda Volpe, a K9 with quite messy fur and a grinning face.
His statement startled her. Surely this couldn't be who she was going to meet? It would appear so. Nerves got the better of her, and she swallowed her tongue. He seemed friendly enough, but she still felt shy. Hi She replied, her voice quiet and soft

Her shyness didn't seem to bother him. In fact, he seemed completely oblivious to it. His blue eyes blinked at her, looking at her properly for the first time. She was certainly pretty-the sunny landscape highlighted her golden fur beautifully, and her warm brown eyes shone. She was still lying sprawled across the grass, which confused him slightly.
Aren't you going to get up? He nudged her slightly with his nose I'm Idget by the way He pronounced his name proudly, oblivious to its true meaning

The contact was enough to make Sandy jump to her feet. Stumbling back, she flushed bright red. She knew she was making a fool of herself, but she really didn't care. What did it matter? She was planning to leave soon anyway. After she'd explained herself to this male, she'd just go back home and say to Kabuto...
Hang on A frown spread across her face and she was momentarily distracted from her plan You're called Idiot?

Id-get He barked out the syllables, hoping she'd get how it was pronounced. He tilted his head in brief confusion. What was an Idiot? Was that a name too? And why had she reacted so dramatically to his nudge?
Studying her carefully (a rare event for Idget) he realized how nervous she seemed. That was another odd factor. He wasn't nervous at all! Maybe if he showed her how relaxed he was, she'd realize she had nothing to be scared of?

A stab of unexpected sympathy caught Sandy off-guard. She could see the confusion on his face, and she felt quite sorry for him. How could he not know what an Idiot was? He name sounded painfully similar-she'd better not explain for fear of upsetting him.
Despite her brief distraction, Sandy had decided it was time to carry on with her plan. Feeling quite awkward, she began to try and explain. I'm going to go now

To be honest, Idget had barely been paying attention. Once again he had been distracted by the scenery-more specifically, the pretty blue butterfly that had been flying around in the background. Sandy's words were enough to jolt him out of his daydream though.
Leaving? Instantly his whole frame dropped. His tail, which had been wagging faster than a plane's jet engine, now stopped still. His ears flopped down and a look of confusion spread across his face.
Why? He whined softly, his big blue eyes filled with hurt

The sudden change in Idget's character threw her. Why was he so sad? It wasn't like he knew her well...Sandy was a sympathetic Volpe, and she hated that she had made him become so sad so suddenly.
Well... She hesitated It's complicated. I can't really explain, but I have to go. Sorry Turning round, she signaled for the Temprus to come out of her hiding place. The creature slowly crawled out, glancing up at this new Volpe. She seemed quite frightened, and quickly scuttled to shelter under her owner's belly

His expression didn't change. If possible he looked even more forlorn, deeply impersonating the kicked-puppy look. He didn't want her to leave so soon! He barely knew her yet, and for some reason he wanted to get to know her.
It's okay He mumbled, dejected. Still drooping, his gaze fell on the small creature that appeared from the bushes. How odd! Idget tilted his head in curiousity, momentarily slightly brighter.
What's that?

Her reply was hesitant. She felt very protective over her Temprus, and she barely knew this Volpe. He didn't seem the type to hurt her, but she still felt rather reluctant to explain.
It's a Temprus She explained gently, stepping backwards to let him see more clearly. She stood with her front legs on either side of the creature, so she could quickly intervene should she need to.
The Temprus blinked up at the seemingly huge Volpe before her. So this was who was worrying her owner so much?

What a fantastic creature! A grin spread across Idget's face as he leaned down, gazing at the new thing before him. It had lovely golden fur (rather like the Volpe's in fact) and its feelers looked irresistibly feathery.
Temprus He tested out the word, his tail wagging. He felt a desperate urge to nudge this new thing. Idget was a kinesthetic learner, and he wanted desperately to know if this creature was as soft as it looked.
Gently lifting up a paw, he glanced at the K9. May I?

The protective streak took over. Instinctively, Sandy stepped forward and lowered her head, defending the little Temprus from any harm. Spotting the hurt look on Idget's face, she felt a blush creep across her face. Why had she snapped? That wasn't like her at all.
The Temprus crawled forward. This new Volpe interested the Temprus, almost as much as the Temprus interested the new Volpe. It gently blinked up at Sandy, signaling it was okay.
The nervous feeling made a return, but Sandy knew she couldn't really stop Idget now that the Temprus had allowed it. Alright She yipped reluctantly But be careful
