Really? He glanced up, hesitating slightly. Now that he thought about it, it was quite nice to meet someone who didn't automatically think that no family was a bad thing. But maybe she was just lying? He'd known females before who had feigned interest in his hobbies and such, purely because they fancied him. She looked sincere though, and he decided to trust someone for once.
That's...a coincidence It was a rather pathetic remark, but what was she expecting? He was hardly going to jump up and down with excitement.
Still, he'd been told by Nadir to make an effort. He guessed he might be able to muster up a more interesting comment. It's nice to have someone who might understand. Unless you miss your parents?

Miss them? She shook her head, causing the stars on her coat to glitter No. I don't believe you can really miss something you never had In certain circumstances, yes, it might make sense. But Didi never cared much about where she came from. She was fabulous enough on her own-why ruin the mystery?
His last comment gave her a little sparkle of hope. He'd been pretty unresponsive until recently. If she could just get him talking properly about something...
So yes, I might understand. If you tell me what I'm supposed to be understanding She smiled coyly. Hopefully this would open him up a bit

Hmm. Oddly wise words for someone who was so...ditzy. He might have to re-evaluate his opinion of her. Well... She had to ruin it by flirting at the end, didn't she? I guess I just kind of feel like people pity me a lot. Do you get that? A small smirk spread across his face.
Well, maybe not. I mean, you're beautiful. People don't tend to pity beautiful Volpes do they? He hadn't really meant it as a compliment, more like a fact. Still, it probably came across that way. While Sabian wasn't typically interested in girls, he did notice how beautiful they were. Again, stuff like physical appearance were just facts to him, bits of data. They didn't really hold much meaning

Wow. Was it possible? He seemed to feel how she did. Well, almost anyway. Didi sometimes milked the sympathy, especially with guys. The way Sabian spoke, it seemed like he resented it.
Yes, I get that She began, when suddenly he spoke again. She blushed furiously-had he just called her beautiful? Fluffing up her fur, she glanced up at him shyly.
Well, thanks Her voice was softer than usual. Darn! Why couldn't she stop feeling so shy around him? But I do get pitied actually. Even if some people seem to think I'm beautiful

A small, almost satisfied smirk spread across his face. It was pretty hard to see her blush, especially with her dark fur. But Sabian's blue eyes had been trained to see in the dark, and he noticed. He was surprised how oddly pleasing it was to be the one to make her blush. It was kinda like a game-childish, but fun.
Some people? I should imagine most people think you're beautiful. At least, going by previous example His eyes glittered, and his voice became a purr. Few things engaged Sabian for very long, but this game of making her blush had piqued his interest

Another compliment? So soon? Blinking in surprise, Didi looked at him carefully. He didn't seem to be being sarcastic...But then, this was Sabian, the only male ever to have ignored her. He'd never complimented her before, why should he now?
Haha She had meant it to sound bold and uncaring, but it came out as a sort of inaudible whisper. A few seconds past, but then she could hold it in no more Previous example? She tilted her head curiously. Had he been watching her? If so, was that good or bad?

He could sense her confusion. He liked it. It was just another amusing factor in his game. It could have been seen as cruel, except the fact that Sabian was being honest. She was beautiful, there was no denying it. He just didn't happen to rate beauty very high, at least, not as high as things like intelligence.
He didn't hear her attempt at laughing, but he heard her second comment. Rather predictable of her. She was vain and curious, never really a good combination. Well, you're not exactly hugely unpopular are you? He tilted his head good-naturedly In fact, I think most males in the pack have a crush on you Again, not something which was untrue. Sabian was usually very honest, even when it would be crushing to be so

This topic change had unnerved her slightly. Normally when it came to males, nothing phased her. In her circle of friends, she was known as 'the outrageous one', never one to step down from a challenge or a dare. It was just when it came to Sabian that things got awkward.
Well... Didi hesitated. She couldn't deny the fact-she did get a bit of attention from males. But to admit it seemed rather...big headed? Vain? That might be so She settled for in the end But you're not exactly Mr. Unpopular yourself, are you? That was the simplest way to put it. Apart from Didi herself, there were around 6 girls who would have loved to be in her shoes right now. She couldn't wait to get home and boast about it!

Well, at least she was honest. Those Volpes that denied everything, even when it was so obvious...those annoyed him. Those that when you said 'I like your fur today' would reply with 'Really? I hate it'. Didi might be rather vain, but at least she could take a compliment.
He wasn't expecting the second part of her statement. Now it was his turn to squirm uncomfortably. I suppose...a few girls might possibly be interested in me He sniffed haughtily, like that sort of thing didn't bother him. It didn't really. He didn't care much for the girls who liked him, why should he care whether or not they cared for him?
Does it really matter?

A grin spread across her face. It was her turn to make him feel uncomfortable. She laughed at his remark, a good-natured giggle. A few? Surely he couldn't be blind when it came to his followers!
His next comment shocked her. Does it matter? Of course it does! She was laughing again, this time in disbelief Don't you care whether or not people like you? Didi cared a lot. She spent ages each morning cleaning her fur, washing her teeth and searching for some nice-smelling flowers to roll around in, all so she could impress other people. To not care about their opinions...it made no sense to her

Couldn't she stop laughing? It really was rather off putting. Still, at least someone was enjoying themselves. Sabian felt rather bored if he was honest. Toying with the female was fun, but he would prefer being at home right now.
It was his turn to laugh, a small chuckle. Tilting his head, his smirk returned. Not really He replied honestly. In his experience, other Volpes were often less-educated than he was. So if they weren't as smart as him, why should their opinions matter as much as his own?
I guess you care about what others think? It wasn't so much a question as a statement. He knew she did-it was easy to tell by the way she tried so hard around others May I give you a piece of advice? Don't bother worrying about other Volpes' opinions. Just try and get one of your own

She was surprised by his simple bit of honesty. The way he said it was so convincing. He really didn't care what others thought. Didi thought that would be quite peaceful really. You wouldn't be worrying about things constantly.
Tobias was always on about that. There he was again, popping into her head unwanted. He told her she worried too much about other people's thoughts. He was always about that 'be-yourself' stuff. It seemed Sabian was into the same thing.
I have my own opinions She argued And I'm not afraid to share them either It was true. She had often been called stubborn, either by Tobias or by some other friend

Oh, he knew that. Often his quiet reflecting had been interrupted by her shouting about one thing or another. It was slightly irritating, although amusing when she lost her temper. Not that he watched her often-at least, no more often than any other Volpe in the pack.
I don't doubt that He smirked. Glancing up at the sky, he noticed that it was significantly lighter than it had been before. Their time together was drawing to a close. What a pity.
Since you don't mind sharing your opinions, tell me this His silvery fur blowing in a light breeze, he smiled quietly What's your opinion of me? Am I smart, irritating...handsome? He continued to smile sneakily. Let's see how bold she could be

Wow, that was sudden. Instantly Didi felt herself flush crimson again. Even when she was flirting outrageously, she never usually admitted liking the guy. Yet here Sabian was, asking her outright whether or not she liked him. It was insane!
Obviously he had to know the answer. She was so sure she was being easy to read, it was impossible that he didn't know. Which meant he was just waiting for a confirmation. Did the fact he was asking mean he felt the same way?
Taking a deep breath, Didi stepped forward until their noses were a few inches away. She felt so nervous, but fortunately she was a good actress. Smart? Undeniably. Irritating? Perhaps a tad. Handsome? She smiled gently Yes. Irritatingly so Her heart fluttered for a few minutes like it never had before. It was such a strange feeling to be nervous!

Clearly she had more guts than he thought. Her nerves were obvious to one with such a keen sight as him. She was blushing again, and her steps were kind of hesitant. Still, she had admitted she liked him.
Sabian was rather unsure how to act now. There was no point in lying-he definitely didn't love her. But he could admit that she wasn't nearly as annoying as he found her before, and she was beautiful. She was even a little amusing when away from her giggling friends.
Finally he decided to say nothing. Instead, he gently bumped his head against her own, as a sign of affection. It seemed to be enough for her, since she bumped his head back in return. Content with this action, Sabian slowly closed his eyes and began to dream about the stars
