Thank you for taking the time to read the rules.
These rules apply to all Official roleplaying areas of this site. Official roleplaying areas include almost all boards outside the 'Home' Category. (There are a few exceptions, however, such as Dens, which do not require Roleplay). Please know that breaking these rules will result in warnings flagged onto your account. Having a certain level of warning may cause for some liberties around the forum to be restricted, such as use of the Shoppe. If problems persist with breaking these roleplaying rules, possible suspension from playing on this forum may come as a consequence.
1. 150 IC Word count Minimum
The Volpe Sanctuaries is considered to be a 'semi-literate' roleplaying site. In order to ensure that roleplays are kept at length (longer than one or two sentences), a 150 word count policy is in effect. To count your words, there is even a built-in word counter, just use the 'Reply' button rather than quick reply. The forum automatically prevents posts shorter than 150 words from being posted, however, coding information and OOC notes are included in this count. Please keep in mind that the actual content matter of a post must have a minimum of 150 words.
There are special cases, however, when this minimum is increased.
When playing with more than 1 creature at a time, the word minimum is increased by 50 words per animal.. Currently, Volpes and Graevia are adoptables of the forum that increase this minimum. So, playing with 1 volpe or graevia means the minimum is 150 words per post. Playing with 2 is a minimum of 200 words per post. And playing with 3 is a minimum of 250 words per post. These is a maximum of playing with 3 creatures at a time, which brings the next rule..
2. 3 'Creatures' in a thread at a time
Due to the way the stats system of the forum work, threads are limited to a maximum of 3 creatures in it at a time. 'Creatures' currently refers only to Volpes and graevia.. This rule prevents 'power leveling' of creatures (as both Volpes and Graevia gain 1 level per 5 official roleplay post. For more information regarding Levels, please visit the Stats board)
Note, this does not mean that both 3 volpes and 3 graevia are allowed in a thread. A combination of Volpe and Graevia leading to a total of 3 a thread. In most official roleplay areas, you are permitted to switch the participating creatures at any time. Just be sure to make a note of the change, so it is seen as a swap rather than an addition.
3. One area at a time!
Although your character is allowed in multiple areas at a time, volpes and graevia are not. 'Spot' cannot be in Len Beach and at Gym Woods at the same. This is to prevent 'power leveling'. In order to 'release' your volpe from a thread so it can be played with elsewhere, simply note in the RP that the volpe is no longer a participant. Also, threads that have been inactive for more then two months will be considered dead, thus releasing all volpes from being considered in that thread (However, at this point, 'dead' threads are locked and stored in the Archives)
4. Chat-speak and l33t speak are strictly prohibited
This is stated in the General rules, however this is an especially important limitation in all Roleplay threads. Please type normal words in roleplay posts. This restricts the use of certain abbreviations as well. lol, gtg, etc, are examples of abbreviations that are not allowed in roleplay posts. However, 'Legal' abbreviations are allowed (though may be hard to use in most cases.) Legal terms may include 'US', 'WMD', etc.
5. Literacy & languages
This is as good as a given, but please be literate when roleplaying. This includes, but is not limited to: correct grammar, proper spelling, and actual words. As far as use of a language other than English, minimal use is permitted. For example, a character is allowed to use a few words from Spanish, or use German to command a volpe. However, the main subject matter of the roleplay must be in English.
6. No Power playing or God modding
Every player should control only their characters. Unless asked to by the other player, one may not control another's character. Use general wording in cases where character interaction is needed. For example, if your character attacks another character you should say, "Bob attempts to strike at Sam with his left fist." rather than, "Bob hits Sam and knocks him to the ground." - This allows the other player to control their own character."
7. Follow the setting
All roleplay boards give a good general description of the area. There are forests, beaches, deserts, etc. Playing at the Len Beach means that the setting must be at a beach. Slight changes to the setting are changeable by the player, such as the season, and some landscape aspects such as trees and other greenery. Len beach can be depicted as 'warm, sunny, and cool rolling waves' in one roleplay, but 'stormy, turbulent, and cold' in another. When playing in another person's thread, please keep in mind the setting that they have created.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the Volpe sanctuaries is located on the planet of Satrus, on the main continent of La'Tune. It is not Earth, although conditions are very Earth-like. There is no 'North America', 'Atlantic ocean', or 'Sahara desert'. Earth locations do not exist on this planet.
8. Follow any specific board rules
Some roleplay areas may have certain restrictions along with the rules listed here. Examples of such cases may be a limit of only 1 creature in a thread, or the requirement of a certain member title before posting.
