I bet you haven't heard of these 'Volpe' creatures before, have you? If you have, well good for you! If you haven’t, here's a little breakdown on these fox-like creatures.
These 'Volpes' are fox-like creatures. With floating wings. That’s pretty much it. A fox with floating wings. They are simple little adoptables, in a state of constant change.
Okay, onto a more serious note. There are several different breeds of these Volpes, the more common ones being the Normal, K9, and Royal. Of course, there are other breeds such as the Gryphons and the Dragons, but much more rare, very few have them.
At first glance between a male and female, there probably wouldn't be any much of a difference between the two. At a slightly closer look, the males are generally buffer, with only one tail, while the females have a more slender build, with two tails. The slender build helps with hunting, male's large build good for fighting and the likes. Volpes can have more then 2 tails, and those are usually in captivity, or owned as pets. Owners can choose the gender of volpes with 2+tails. Tailless volpes? Same applies.
The volpes can slightly relate to lions, the females do the hunting, the males protecting over the family, but with volpes, the family is called a pack. Now off of lions, Volpe packs are generally run by the alpha female and male, the two are usually lifemates. Pack sizes vary between breeds, but normal volpe packs range from 3 to 9 adult members. Some of the pack mates, female and male, may be evicted from the pack to start their own, or in some cases, some volpes intentionally leave the pack. The pack usually consists of one breed of Volpes only, but there are some packs where breed doesn't matter much. Captive volpes are the ones with endless amounts of members in the pack and a wide range of breeds.
Volpe calls can range from barks, meows, chirping, but it all depends on the volpe's breed. For now, we'll be on the normals. Normal volpe calls are usual with barks for communication, sometimes meowing or purring for happiness. Specially trained Normal Volpes may even speak in human languages, if taught at an early age. Royal Volpes are known for speaking in human languages, and for some, it’s preferred over their natural calls. K9s are rather dog-like, barking and howling, dispite their ancestors being completely mute..

~ About the adoptable ~
Volpes surely changed over the years. At first, they were strange, highly pixilated 'foxes' with rather plain poses and different tails for males and females. The first ever breed is the now 'Average' breed of volpe. The first coloring of it was actually black, not red, but I see the reds as an icon to resemble Volpes. They were quite popular with people at first, somehow. But of course, as new adoptables sprang up, the foxes became less popular. And my Volpes had to shut down for at least 5 times for me not having any customers, no 'will' to continue on with them, or being too busy. Anyway, Volpes used to have only one breed, which are now known as Retired Volpes. Near a year later, I decided to 'revamp' the Volpes, in hope for their re-birth. The place where I used to host them no longer has an active adoptable area, so I had to start my own site. Which is here, the Volpe Sanctuaries, or V. S. Or more precisely, V. S. v2. Volpe Sanctuaries version 2. V. S. v1 was a little known site, featuring the Retired Volpes. It was when I was more immature then I am now, and so the site wasn't stable, crashing after the first week. I hope to do much better here.
More on the actual adopt, and not its history, yes?
Volpes are as said, foxes with multiple tails depending on gender and with floating wings. But more on their structure now. Volpes have very rounded off heads. Think of an English Bull Terrier's head, just shortened out and with bigger eyes. See a sort of resemblance? That wasn't intentional when I made the Volpes though, it just happened to be. They have a slightly long body and longer legs. Never really thought about that part too much, but the head featuring is very distinct, or should be, so I wanted to point that out.
Let's see, I'll try to break down their bodies a bit. That rounded, bullet-like head, signature of the volpes, is used to break the air when running or while in flight. Volpes have an odd kind of run to maximize speed. It's more like a deer, sprinting through the woods, a bouncy with all legs off the ground. Take away a bit of the bounce, and the result is similar to how a volpe runs. Not the fastest of all creatures, but still swift. The female's twin tails help to maintain balence and stability while in runs, wings serving as guiders. Males do hunt too, their own tails and wings serving the same purpose.
Their legs, in comparison to their bodies, are a touch long, yet volpes maintain their sleek, sly air. Perhaps it's the pointed ears? Superb hearing these creatures have, by the way, those ears are often seen flickering around at any sounds. The volpes have rather good eyesight too. Every color of the rainbow can be seen except for red, seeming to be a dark orange or yellow color. A bit odd, but I don't think they really notice. Sharp eyes they have though, able to detect motion much better then a human could.
Sence of smell is compairble to a fox's, sharp and accruate. Sence of feel is a bit advanced in volpes, their paw pads and muzzle having a higher concentration of nerve endings then normal canines. With the lack of thumbs, touching things with their whiskerless muzzles is the best alternative if their paws can't get a good hold. Volpes nuzzle each other to get information. Nuzzling and licking. Volpes have many taste bugs, and some very special ones for gathering information in the middle of the tongue. Very similar to dogs butt-sniffing, just with the front ends instead.
