The mighty hunterDenahi was in heaven. This was the greenest place he had ever been, and the dense forest undergrowth felt like a jungle to him. It was admittedly rather small, but it would do for now. The thick grass tickled his paws as he padded slowly through the foliage, surveying his surroundings with a keen eye. It was late-afternoon, but the Sun still shone unusually warmly for the season. Of course Denahi's thick coat might have helped a bit. His brown pelt was dotted with shadows from the towering trees, but the paler colour was still visible. His thick mane was surprisingly scruffy, although he had clearly made an effort to tidy it up. Denahi was very proud of his mane. It was obvious by his appearance that he didn't exactly live in the cleanest place alive. The pure, brilliant life of the forest was new to him. He liked it. He was skulking his way through the trees, half-crouched in some sort of hunter's stance. What exactly he was planning to hunt was unknown, even to him. Still, he was enjoying himself immensely. It was nice to have some time to himself, no irritating pack or siblings to get in his way... {Posts: 1}

Another volpe was enjoying the cool shade under the trees. He trotted along happily, stopping every so often to smell a flower, or step carefully over a fallen tree. He had no idea where he was going, and he realy didn't care either. His personality, one could see, was very much like a puppy. He would run at a bug, yapping loudly, and then abrubtly change direction entirely and go charging at a squirrel. Yes, he was having a fine time in this forest. Sure, life at the den was great and all, but there were just too many volpes, and no place as wild and free as this. You could see the boundless sky here. Yes, that was what Stripeh liked about this place, that you could see the sky. Suddenly he heard a noise, and smelled a smell, both occurring at almost the exact same time. There was another volpe in here. He listened intently for a few seconds, pinpointing where the sound and smell came from, and then he was off, already barking a greeting, though the other volpe likely couldn't hear him yet. "My name's Stripeh!" He called out. "What's your nameeh?" That was another thing about Stripeh. All the words at the end of his sentence ended with eh, even if they weren't supposed to.

It was instinct that acted first. When something came charging towards him, Denahi reacted quickly. He jumped out of his hunting crouch and puffed himself up slightly, almost like a cat. His eyes narrowed and his teeth pulled back into a growl. Who was this? He'd get them!
When he realized it was not a life-threatening enemy and instead was just a K9 Volpe, he felt slightly embarrassed. The snarl died in his throat and he deflated. Stepping back, he lifted his head cautiously. He wasn't a trusting sort, and while this Volpe seemed friendly he wasn't going to bank on it yet.
Denahi spent a few minutes glancing at the male, unsure what to do. ...Denahi He spoke finally, reluctant to share such an important piece of information so soon. What was this K9 called? Did it matter? It had sounded like Stripe or Strike or something. To be fair, enemies usually didn't announce themselves. He probably wasn't about to be attacked after all

Stripeh skidded to a halt when he heard the growl, then bounced slowly up and down in place while he waited for the other Volpe's reply. He looked at the royal curiously while he waited, and was a bit disappointed to see that he looked exactly like Aslan, a Volpe from his own den. Stripeh had thought that the wild wouldn't be quite so much like home was.
Oh well, there was still the sky. After almost a whole second of looking at Denahi, he switched to looking at the sky. Clearly, Stripeh couldn't sit still for even a minute. He had a short attention span too.
When the other Volpe finally (to Stripeh at least) spoke, he looked back, continuing to bounce. "Nice to meet you Denahieh!" He said. "The forest is so beautiful, isn't iteh?! So much better than my deneh! Do you have an ownereh?!" He was beyond excitment, practically yelling by the last part, and not really caring about the answers either. He waited about half a second, and then yelled out more questions.
"How many Volpes are in your packeh?! Why are you in the foresteh?! Are there more Volpes here-eh?!" And so on. the "eh" was clear at the end of each sentence. One time might have passed unnoticed, but not ten or twenty.

He had to hand it to the K9, he was brave if nothing else. The Royal was still wondering what he should do when he broke into his outburst. It rather alarmed Denahi if he was honest. The K9 was yapping loudly, clearly very excited about something. The Lion blinked in reply, utterly confused.
Erm...well He could pick up a slight accent as well, one he hadn't heard before. It was useful in its own way, allowing Denahi to focus on certain words in what appeared to be an endless stream of questions. He felt a slight urge to hit the Volpe in some way, just to try and stop the questions. He was acting hysterical. Unfortunately, since joining his pack he had learnt that most Volpes don't react kindly to being hit, no matter how lightly it was.
Guessing he'd have to come up with a different plan, Denahi began to talk, much louder than he normally would have done. He tried to sound as normal as possible-just a few hundred decibels louder. Yes, this place is beautiful! I came here for some peace and quiet! It was quite ironic really. With the both of them shouting he very much doubted anyone around would get peace and quiet

Stripeh stopped bouncing for a moment when Denahi began yelling as well. He was used to Volpes talking in a normal volume, and never realized when he himself talked so loudly. He fought the urge to droop his ears in sadness, maybe this Volpe was just naturally loud.
"I came here to get away from my deneh." He said, a bit more normally, but still perhaps a bit too excited for the words he was saying. "I like to see the skyeh." And with this sentence, he had his nose pointed toward the clouds again, his tiny wings flapping with excitment. "Do you ever envy the volpes that can fly so goodeh?" He asked, which got his mind onto another topic entirely.
"Gaia, Zeus and Sunray can fly so goodeh." He said, still gazing up at the sky. "Their wings are so much longer than mine are-eh." He eyed Denahi's wings for a few seconds. "Your wings are so much bigger than mine-eh." He flapped his wings as hard as he could, raising a few centimeters off of the ground, and then landing again. "You can fly better than me, righteh? Are clouds really as soft as they lookeh?"
He tipped his head back more, following a single cloud as it blew across a break in the cannopy. He reared onto his hind legs to follow it, and then lost his balence and crashed over backwards. He was on his feet in an instent though, tail still wagging.

The pause in bouncing made the Royal feel slightly guilty. He was not the pitying type, so he shook off the feeling quickly. He decided to slowly lower the volume of his voice, gradually enough so that the K9 hopefully wouldn't notice.
At the mention of the sky, he too looked up. Subconsciously, his wings flapped a little. It wasn't enough to give him any height, but it did cause a slight breeze.
Flying's quite good He agreed carefully. He paused, as if he was deciding whether or not he should say more To be honest I prefer life on the ground. I'm not the best flier, and I'm a fast runner anyway Clouds? He had never felt a cloud, but it was just gas surely? Or...water vapour? He could never remember which.
Clouds are...quite soft, yes Denahi wasn't sure, so he tried to give a convincing yet non-committed answer They're very light He watched with slight amusement as the Volpe fell over, although it wasn't a sneering laugh. Flapping his own wings, he hovered hesitantly about 3 foot off the ground. He was rather clumsy, but his wings flapped powerfully. After a minute or so, he landed gratefully with a thud.
Would you like to fly properly? He asked. The Royal probably wouldn't miss it too much if it got taken away from him. He rarely used it, although he probably should have
