A forest outing

[Fluffy]

"Hey, come back here!"
A loud whine filled the early morning forest air.

"Thats not funny! Give it backk!"
Loud, clumsy sounding footsteps followed after a swiftly moving blue blob. A soft thud sounded soon and the steps ceased.
"Oww.. See wha cha made me do?! Now give me back my hat!"

If only it weren't for the loud cries, the forest setting would be filled with peace. The early morning sky was still slightly dotted with start, but a few sunrays peeked over the horizon, though no sun was to be found. A soft cool wind blew in from the west, barely noticable. The spring grasses were long from the March showers and the whole forest seemed to be in bloom.

Softer padding drew close to the white figure on the grassy forest floor, but still long from arm's reach. A gentle blue hat limped from the she-volpe's mouth, a mocking tone on her muzzle.
"Namiii, hand it over!"

A desprate reach for the hat came with no avail. It seemed the volpe wasn't going to give up. It trotted off, before turning back around and looking at the furry girl laying on the floor, wagging its twin tails in the air.

Fluffy picked herself up from the grass carpet, positioning herself in a pounce. The girl took aim and launched off at the fox creature, but again, no result. The pesky volpe dodged off to the right. Fluffy met with the ground again. Her coat wouldn't be as white as she started if she continued on with this.

"What was that?"
A girl sat up, disturbed from her sunbathing by the sound of shouting not too far away. A pretty female Volpe who was lay down beside her tilted her head curiously, her ears pricked with calm interest. Deciding to find out, the girl got up and brushed herself down. Glancing up at the sky, she let out a wistful sigh. She had been waiting for the Sun to come out, but it didn't look like that was going to happen anytime soon. She might as well find something else to do in the meantime.

Adjusting her bright yellow cap, she scanned the area, trying to locate the source of the sound. Realizing that her rest was over, the Volpe got to her feet, a slightly irritated expression on her face at having to move around. She let out a whine in protest, but Kabuto simply bent down and patted her gently on the head.

"Come on Nadir. We've been sat here for hours! We'll just check out that noise and then we'll come back, okay?"
The Volpe grumbled slightly but made no further attempt at protesting. Spying a flash of blue that she suspected had something to do with the sound, she began walking in that direction, enjoying the cool breeze that blew against her face.

Finally she spotted a girl with a small blue Volpe covered with stars. Seeing that she appeared to need some help, she went over with a smile.

"Trouble?" She grinned friendlily, her Volpe standing patiently by her side

[Fluffy]

The slight impact dazed her, but her ears perked up by themselves as someone else approached.

"Ehh.. wha?", she murmured, picking herself up again. She saw the other volpe and looked up at Kabuto.
"Oh! No trouble-- Ahh, sort of" Words came out on their own in mixed thoughts.

Fluffy stood up from the ground, dusting herself off in a hurry.
"Its a sort of trouble, Nami there isn't giving me my hat", she said, turning to point at the Volpe, "But she's only just playing, I know"
Nami eyed the others there, a slight suspicioning look on her face. The volpe was cautious around other people, but volpes didn't bother her as much. Even so, she held the hat with pride within her jaws. No one was going to take her prize away just yet. The fun was just starting!

Bracelets the volpe wore jangled as she again waved her tails in the air. Her wings wavered softly as she did so. Come on, bring on the fun! was the expression she held now. It seemed Nami had more energy today then usual. It seemed like she was actually challenging them to get the hat back!

A breeze ruffled her light fur. The early dawn lighting made the star marking on the volpe glow softly. The real stars above the shallow canopy of the trees grew dimmer as the sun's rays grew stronger, but they still glimmered in an even tone.

"Okay Nami, give me back the hat and you'll get more food later"
Bribing? Nope, not even that would work. The Volpe kept her firm hold on that hat.

Kabuto couldn't help laughing.

"Yep, I know that feeling. Many a time my hat's been stolen," She tapped her hat which stood out, being alarmingly bright compared to the rest of her Khaki clothes. The Volpe at her side gave a growl, disagreeing with this, "Well, not from Nadir," She added hastily, "She's as good as gold. But Octile has been known to steal when he's feeling particularly grouchy. I'm Kabuto by the way." She held out a hand to shake

Nadir meanwhile glanced curiously at the stranger, her ears pricked in interest. She padded over to join her, the grass feeling refreshingly cool underfoot. Her cloudy blue fur was tinged peachy pink, and her eyes glowed in the morning light. She yapped in greeting, intrigued by this display of playfulness. She normally wasn't the playful sort, but she did feel brighter in the mornings. What are you going to do next? Her expression seemed to say, eager to know the Volpe's plans.

"Bribery never works with mine either," Kabuto admitted, trying to think of a plan to retrieve the hat, "I usually try threatening next." She joked

[Fluffy]

Fluffy could feel the skin under her fur run hot.
It was always easy to make her blush, and it was a good thing her fur concealed the red, unless she'd be seen red almost constantly.

"S a pretty hat", she commented, before reaching to shake Kabuto's hand, "I be Fluffy, nice ta meet cha" A happy smile reached the girl's furry face, tail wagging slowly. Meeting someone new was slightly rare for the girl. She was usually shy, held off in the backround, though on some days, she felt better about meeting others. Today was one of those mornings, but it was quite an odd way to meet someone else.

The girl's attention returned back to the blue volpe as it gave a playful growl. Nami eyed the other volpe, in a slight wonder if she'd be with her, or against, though either way, some kind of fun would spark from it, right? She gave a muffled yip in greeting, not opening her muzzle in case the others snatched it back. Nami's wings flapped a bit stronger, slowly accerlating in speed. A daring look flashed from her. The volpe's teeth clenched a bit harder onto the hat. Yes, this would turn up amusing.

"Nami's a tough one to get stuff away from, 'specially when she wants ta play", she said, creaping up towards the volpe slowly, "I chase 'em around till they've played nuff, then they usually give my stuff back, dudn't work all the time tho" A slight game of cat and mouse it was. But what do you do if your mouse can fly?

"Thanks. My Volpes are always trying to tell me I have no fashion sense," She disagreed with them of course. Her clothing style was just a little unique...right? Kabuto liked the look of this new girl. She was quite shy herself, or at least used to be. Now she found it easier to be more open, but even so she occasionally found herself blushing when she met someone more outgoing than herself.

She began watching the two Volpes, admiring the colour and pattern on the other girl's Volpe.
"She's very pretty," She commented, "I don't think I've seen one like her before. Would you like me to help get your hat back?" She added

Meanwhile Nadir's eyes glinted with mischief. She broke into a steady run beside Nami, her fur slightly ruffling in the wind. She enjoyed the wind-it was one of the traits both her and her mate shared. Not a huge gale, but a steady breeze on a fairly sunny day was one of the best feelings in the world in her opinion. She yipped back at the Volpe, letting her know she wanted to join in the chase. She wasn't sure whether to go against her owner or not...Hang on wait. What had she had for breakfast? Ah yes, canned food. Discount. That decided it

She yipped again, her tail waggling in excitement. She gave a very meaningful look to the opposing Volpe. I'm on your side

[Fluffy]

Fluffy had to giggle at that.
"Dun worry, you do", Fluffy laughed. It was, to her, funny for volpes and their owners to have disagreements in fashion. Maybe thats what Nami's trying to tell her? Too much blue, not enough different stuff. Then again, Nami usually stole stuff from the furry girl, from her shoes to her hats. That volpe was always bored of the den life, never getting enough sunlight.

The girl's attention returned back to the volpes as Kabuto mentioned it. "Nami is just another average Volpe. Though come to think of it, the averages have been dieing out, they be quite rare now, me thinks" The girl pondered that for a moment, before snapping back to reality, "And if you want to try to get it back, you can, though that volpe has a lots of energy to burn"

Nami let out a muffeled, playful growl again, happy for a team mate.
Best be able to keep up
It sparked from her look, a sort of volpeish sneer. Wind conditions were just right, very mild. Just perfect. Now for play time! Nami darted abruptly toward Fluffy and Kabuto, flapping her wings in a heavier beat. The small creature came up in a close range, before jumping into the dawning sky. Ah, the cool breeze of the open air was very refreshing, much better then the cramped den quarters. The Volpe hovered in the air for a breif moment, before letting her floating wings to the work, propeling herself high out of reach.

The expression on her muzzle teased, Ha! Can you get me now?, as she shook her head and the blue hat within her jaws. No, she wouldn't stay up for long, but just long enough for a nice tease. Then more fun would come. she watched the furred girl below glare up at her, her fox eyes sparkeling in amusement.

Kabuto smiled in gratitude before gazing at the Volpe. She looked quite fast. Kabuto didn't possess the greatest stamina when it came to running but she was pretty fast in small bursts. She hoped she could keep up. Adjusting her hat firmly and pulling her hair back so it wouldn't get blown into her eyes in the breeze she stood patiently, waiting to see what the Volpe would do next.

Kabuto jumped back, startled as Nami flew in front of her face. She fell back in surprise and landed with a thump on the ground beneath her. Fortunately she was not hurt, but the fall had shocked her and she could only watch as the Volpe glided past her, almost teasingly close.

Nadir stared back, a wolfish grin forming on her face. She was sure she could keep up-as alpha female of her pack she kept herself in good shape. She had to admit, the blue Volpe's jump surprised her a little, but she quickly caught on. Her tails wagged eagerly as Kabuto threw her a pleading look. Ignoring it completely, she too leaped gracefully into the air and zipped past her face. She landed lightly on the ground and threw a look of defiance at Kabuto. This was going to be fun.

Scrambling to her feet, Kabuto turned to Fluffy.
"So much for relying on our pets," She sighed, "I guess we're on our own." Thinking logically, she glanced around to check for anything that could be used to their advantage. If they could just corner them somewhere then maybe they could create a trap?

[Fluffy]

Pesky little thing..
Fluffy glared up at Nami, but her attention went off to Kabuto, a small simile peaking off her.
"I'm used to that volpe's tricks, but it was an unexpected move, huh?", she said, giving a small laugh. The Volpe's tricks didn't work too well on Fluffy, being its owner, but it did give her a start every now and then.

Nami shook off the girl's glare, a small trickster feel brewing within. Hmm.. That other one had a hat too.. And it seemed like Fluffy got along with her.. Why not try? The blue volpe positioned herself just right, before suddenly stopped her flaps. There was just one shot at this.. Nami landed with a thud atop Fluffy's head, and in a swift range of motion, jumped up from her right onto Kabutos! She couldn't take the hat as well, already having one in her jaws, but instead made a sloppy jump off. Her two tails purposely hit Kabuto's hat in the process, in hopes of knocking it off her head. The volpe gave a quick dart as she landed onto the ground towards Nadir, giving a nod as a sort of que for the volpe to take some action!

Meanwhile, Fluffy held her hands to her head, the force of Nami landing on it was hard, causing some pain. "Oww..", she mumbled, looking over at the volpe to glare at it again. Such rough play! Nami wouldn't get her dessert later of she kept it up.

She gasped as a small blue blur came whizzing towards her. A look of surprise and shock spread over Kabuto's face as she felt the furry thing land on her head before jumping back off, knocking her in the face with her tails as she did so. She blinked, not quite registering what had happened.

"You okay?"
She asked Fluffy, noticing her holding her head. She glanced down to search for the Volpe and her gaze fell on something. Her hat. It was on the floor!

Realizing their plan, Kabuto made a mad dash for it. But she wasn't quick enough. Nadir certainly didn't need to be told twice as she sprung into action, suddenly seeming to run with all the speed of a cheetah. Her eyes fixed firmly on the prize as she managed to scoop up the hat fiercely in her jaws a split second before Kabuto reached it.

"Darn!"
Kabuto slowed to a halt and glanced feebly at Nadir. The Volpe simply wiggled her tails cheekily before joining the side of her playmate. Got it! She crowed triumphantly, beaming proudly.

"Great, now there's two of them," Kabuto scratched her head thoughtfully, "Got any plans?" To be honest she was still mourning her hat. She often got unusually attached to objects and her yellow hat certainly was one of her favourite items of clothing

[Fluffy]

Pain subsided quickly on Fluffy's head, a nod going out to Kabuto.
"I'm fine, it was just sudden", she said, shaking her head quickly to get the rest of the feeling away. Nami hasn't done that trick before. Huh. Guess old volpes can learn new tricks. Having the slowest rection time ever, Fluffy saw Kabuto's hat on the ground, but before she could tell her body what to do, another volpe snatched it right up. The girl watched the Volpe go to Nami's side, seeming quite happy to play in the 'game'.

Nami was filled with joy. Yes, very entertaining, those people knew just how to have some fun! Or so it did seem to the volpe. The volpe gave an approving nod to her new found friend. Not only would those two need to get the hat back from Nami, but back from Nadir as well! This would be an intresting fight. The blue volpe's tails wagged in excitement, planning for the next move.

"I guess one bad apple can ruin the bunch", Fluffy said with a joking laugh, remembering what Kabuto said earlier about Nadir, "Umm.. As for a plan, I don quite have any.." Fluffy took a moment of thought, glancing at the two volpes for a moment, before coming up with something.
"We could try at a trade, do you have anything of your Volpe's?", Fluffy asked as she searched around in her pocket for something. Ah, still in there! Her pawed hand pulled out one of Nami's bracelets. A trade with her own volpe to her her hat back. That was quite strange, but would it work?

"True!" She smiled in reply. She listened carefully to Fluffy's plan, nodding in agreement, "That sounds smart. Let me just check my bag." Crouching down, she swung her bag off her back (yellow, to match her hat) and began rummaging through it.

Meanwhile Nadir was standing still, watching the pair of owners like a hawk. Her tails were swishing and she was waiting, expecting some kind of trick. Her jaws gripped firmly on the hat, ignoring the breeze which blew against it, seemingly trying to dislodge it. She stepped on her paws lightly, ready to make a dash for it at the slightest sign of trouble.

Gosh, I have so much junk in my bag... Kabuto thought as she dug deeper, riffling through a mixture of notepads, snacks, books and even a long-forgotten glove which seemed to have lost its partner.

"Bingo!"
She pulled out a small, light-blue ball. It looked rather old and was covered in some kind of star pattern which had been worn away by months of chewing. Kabuto squeezed it, causing it to squeak. Nadir's ears pricked at the sound and she locked her gaze with Kabuto.

Nadir continued to stare, feeling herself being torn. That was her favourite ball, the one she'd had since she was a pup. Standing her ground, she turned to glance at Nami, deciding to let her call this one. The ball was tempting, but she didn't exactly feel ready to give up the chase yet. The day was still young and she still had a lot of energy left

[~*Ryuu Squall*~]

Redfur had been leading Ryuu in this dirction for a while and it wasent untill she heard all the noise ahead that she realised why he had been going this way. "Did you want to see who it was?" she asked her volpe. He nodded slightly, his ears on full alert listening to what was going on. Ryuud dient know whether to come out or not. She would like to see who it was but suddenly felt rather shy. Finally she decided to pluck up her courage and stepped out from behind her tree to see to people and two volpes, both of which seemed to have hats in their mouthes for some strange reason.
