Three scavengers on a Hunt (Custom Item Search)

1. Three figures ran lightly over the ground, their paws hardly seeming to skim the earth. And sometimes they didn’t, as every now and then one of them would give a little leap and glide a step or so on outstretched wings. This however would be met by boos and cries of “Cheat!” by which ever two Volpes were not using there wings. This would not stop the others copying the move when they fell a bit behind the other two though. So the three creatures bounded on, their young legs eating up the ground and their destination quickly approaching.

2. It just happened to be Sherbet who won this particular race. The three siblings were pretty evenly matched speed wise, but Sherbet did tend to win their races a little more often then the other two did. Though, of cause this could be because she perhaps cheated more then the others with the whole gliding thing. Then again, she did tend to win their flying races as well. Despite being the least out going and most shy of the three normal x gryphon hybrids siblings, she was the most athletic. That didn’t help her people skills much though sadly.

3. Wish came in second place. She was the most competitive and bossy of the three, but she had a good heart and was very good at listening to others problems and giving them advice, even if she did come over a little scary and impassive when you first meet her. She would be annoyed with herself for not winning this race, but she would also quickly forget that annoyance when something else distracted her. She would want to be the first to find one of the items they had been sent to find as well, and the first to find the second item. And third. That was just her way.

4. Crystal bounded happily along in last place. He wasn’t very competitive at all, though he did find this ort of thing very fun. Though his two sisters loved him and he was the sweetest creature imaginable, there was just something about him that came over a little odd. He wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed and he had a habit of bursting out with rather random words and phrases that amused him. He adored his siblings and always looked to them for advice on everything. Despite them all being the same age, give or take a few minutes, he came over as the youngest.

5. “I win! I win! I wi…urgh!” Called Sherbet as she ground to a stop at the top of the valley, the ‘urgh’ had been because her front two legs had almost disappeared over the steep cliff edge that surrounded the valley. She pulled herself back, using her wings to help balance herself. As she did so, she dislodged a couple of stones that went bouncing down the side of the cliff and into the wide valley far below. Wow, that had been close! Then she noticed a new danger… “Stop!” Sherbet called back to her siblings as they barreled towards her. “Stop!”

6. The words came a little too late for wish to be able to stop, she had been running at her fastest and as hard as she tried to stop, she just skidded on and bumped straight into Sherbet, sending the two hybrids flying out into the sky. It was a good thing both of them had such good wings and had had plenty of practice at using them.
They fell for a short time and then slowly eased open their wings to catch the current and steady their fall. If they had snapped their wings open as quickly as they could in panic, it would have at the least hurt a hell of a lot.

7. Crystal saw his two sisters fall off the cliff, and unlike how a normal volpe would probably act, he laughed joyfully and threw himself off after them without even looking were he was going (or thinking first). He was just as good a flyer as his siblings, and a bit more daring as well (he hadn’t really got the sense to think dangers through). The kept his wings tucked in for much longer then the other two, only slowly easing them open in time to land smoothly. This meant he was the first to reach the valley floor, making him jump up and now, shouting happily “I win! I win!”

8. Sherbet, having been the first off the cliff gently glided into second place (though this hadn’t really been a race). She didn’t inform Crystal of that though, indulging him in his victory. He wouldn’t brag and rub it in their faces for ages, so there was no harm in letting him have his little moment of glory. He would forget about it soon anyway. And Sherbet had won the proper race, the one to the top of the valley, and that was the one that really mattered. Sherbet had to step out of the way a second after landing to allow Wish to land, in a little more ruffled way then either of them two had, though it had still not been a particularly bad landing all the same.

9. Typical! Last, and the worst landing! Wish berated herself. She hated being the worst at anything; it put her in a bad mood. She had never been as good at landing as the other two, something that really, really annoyed her. How could she act haughty and graceful if a chicken could land with more elegance then her?
Trying to push such grumpy thoughts from her mind, Wish straightened up and shook her wings to try and put the ruffled feathers back in proper alignment.
Business like now, she said “come on you two, you know what Ryuu sent us here for, me have to find umm…” She seemed to be thinking. “Umm, ive forgotten. What where we sent her to find?”

10. Crystal stopped his little chant of “I win, I win!” and giggled. “Ryuu wanted us to find… umm…some stuff!” He seemed very happy with his answer. But then again, he nearly always seemed really optimistic and happy about the most random things.
He looked around himself at the valley. A thought occurred to him and he stopped down and picked up a little gray rock in his beak, which he then dropped at Wish’s paws. “Ryuu wanted a rock. And here’s a rock. We’ve done, lets go back and tell her!” To him it really was that simple, pick up a rock (that for some reason had to be from the valley) and then just go home.

11. Sherbet giggled and carefully picking up Crystals stone, placed it aside. In a voice that was as gentle as her actions had been, she replied “Crystal, I don’t think she just wanted us to pick up a stone, wasn’t it a sort of shiny stone that she wanted?” She looked round at the other two. Crystal nodded glumly, wondering why his stolen hadn’t been special enough. Wish seemed to remember that Ryuu had said something about a shiny stone, and nodded firmly in agreement.
“That wasn’t the only thing she wanted from the valley though…” Sherbet mused. “Wasn’t there a couple of other things as well?”

12. Wish nodded again, “Yes there were some other things. At least two, maybe three.
She stared round the valley, looking for inspiration. Her eyes fell on the rock that Sherbet had moved away. “Rang on…I think Ryuu did say something about…rang on...umm…yes! A shiny rock and a small pebble!” It was all coming back to her now! “What was the other thing? Or things?” Try as she might, she just couldn’t remember. All that racing to get here seemed to have clean blown it out of her head!
Or maybe the idea of going off on a hunt had excited her so much that she hadn’t bothered listening properly for what they were.

13. An odd little noise, almost a squeal came from Crystal “I know! I know!” He did a little shuffling dance, his claws clicking on the rock beneath him like he was trying to tap-dance. “She wanted some grass, no a blade of grass! And big, big leaf, a giant one!”
Crystal was overjoyed at remembering, though he had no idea what had brought that memory of what it was they where looking for back. Maybe it was that leaf floating past… If he noticed it he didn’t say anything. It wasn’t a very big leaf though, so it wouldn’t have been what Ryuu wanted anyway.
