Height: 5' 4" (about 162 cm) at the shoulders
Weight: 194 - 267 lbs (about 88 - 121 Kg)
Natural Habitat: It has been studied that the Dragon volpe can be seen nearly anywhere in the world. However, since sightings are so rare, there aren't any pin pointed places where the dragons might populate in higher numbers. The reported cases of sightings have come from the desert, mountains, and even in the ocean!
Natural behavior: Generally, this breed seems rather untrusting of anyone and everyone, besides itself that is. Though they do colonize in shall numbers, no more then 4 in a group have been reported. The group members are often unrelated, with an exception of mates, perhaps. Even offspring are evicted from the group once they've reached maturity. Completely solitary Dragons isn't uncommon.
These volpes do well on their own anyway, it seems. Needing to fend for itself only, a kill such as a deer can last them for a week. Large prey are often targets of these volpes, though smaller game such as rabbits are in their diet as well. These volpes seem to prefer fresh kills, though if hungry enough, there have been cases where they scavenge, or even steal a meal from other volpes.
Despite how bulky they may seem, these volpes are agile when it comes to flying. A tactic where one aims from the sky, and swoops down in after prey, like a hawk, is a very common one. Large talons and sharp teeth combined with silent flying makes them deadly hunters. Stamina and strength allow them to soar high for long periods of time, some are so well suited for flight, they can last for a day or two in the air, only needing to land to hunt.
As far as communication goes, these volpes are rather silent, it seems. Vocalization is minimal, maybe an odd gruff growl or two to any intruders to their territory. Captive dragons are quite much the same, the few who do own them usually put a bell collar on them to know where they are. However, it is said that these volpes, if cared for properly, can quickly form a strong bond with it's owner/companion. Dragon volpes do not liked to be seen as 'owned', but rather, a companion or pack-mate. Good owners can tell by body language how their volpe is feeling. Low stances generally mean upset or angered, while high ones mean happy, or satisfied.
The Dragon breed of volpe have very keen senses. Some say these volpes can sense how those around it feel through their horns, though proof of this is yet to be seen. These volpes are very magical by nature, however, so many things about them cannot be explained without first hand experience (and do to their rarity, there are very little people who have this experience!).
Eating Preferences: Dragon volpes are carnivores, mainly eat their own fresh kills, but may resort to scavenging or stealing if the situation is dire enough. Surprisingly, it takes very little to feed them, as kills can last for many days. Large game is a preference over small in most cases, however, so long they can catch it, they will most likely eat it. Captive, they often don't eat anything given to them, even live prey animals. For this reason, nearly all captive Dragons die off. It's often hard for immature owners to let their 'pets' go to feed without fearing they may run away, but if a good bond is formed, then the chances of this are slim.
General care: These volpes can care for themselves very well. Their tough durable scales may need a bit of oil after some time to keep them from cracking, and their claws need regular trimming, but other then that, it takes very little to keep them groomed. Daily long exercising keeps them entertained, and helps keep stress down.
