Why was he looking at her like that? Her breath caught, and she stared into his eyes. So much swirled there, too much for her to read. All she knew was that it made her take a step back - not in unease, or distrust, but in a daze. Did she... was she really seeing what she thought she was in his eyes? She... no, surely not? That couldn't be it, they'd just met! Things didn't just happen that fast, it wasn't natural! It didn't happen, it couldn't happen... could it?

She was shocked by how he felt, he could see that. He hesitated then, unsure what to do. As they stood there, he couldn't be sure if she was fighting her own affection, or struggling not to flee or attack. He couldn't be sure, but instinct was driving him forward. His heart was telling him to act - and since when was he one to fight the heart? Giving in, he gave another gentle sigh of color towards her, and leaned forward. He gave touched her muzzle gently with his, staring into her eyes as long as he could. Please... his eyes seemed to beg, Please don't run away.

The touch sent a thrill through her, the fur on her spine tingling. It was almost electric, the sensation it gave her, but that wasn't quite it. It was something... different. She liked it, but she feared it. She was wrong, this could happen this early, she knew now. She leaned forward herself, nuzzling against his face until her cheek was pressed up against his. Her eyes slid half-closed, and she gave a deep, throaty whine. She liked this, yes... she liked him very much.

He could hardly believe this was happening, already. In fact, he... he couldn't. He let himself press further against her, until their shoulders touched - and then he pulled away. He took a few steps back, ears flicking back in shame at the confused look in her eyes. "...not yet," was all he said, voice soft. "Let's walk a little further. It's just... not here. Not yet."

Somehow, she was disappointed. She knew it was unreasonable, but she couldn't stop the emotion. Sighing to herself this time, she gave her head a shake, golden earring catching the light. "...I understand. Come on, let's... let's walk this way." She started walking again, leading him back down the grove path. She knew he was right - they needed to find a better place. Somewhere better, where they could be together, alone.

He wasn't sure where they were going, anymore. To be truthful, he didn't really care. He just padded beside her, his side pressed against hers. He could feel her heartbeat now, feel the muscles move inside her. He loved the feel of it, he loved, well... her. She was something. He knew that 'love' this quickly was probably not the real thing, but who cared? They were in the moment, and if the heart told him to - as he had said, why argue with the heart? More often than not, it knew exactly what it was doing.

She really did love it, being with him. She'd never have thought she could feel like this, especially so fast. It's not real, some part of her pestered. [/i]It's too fast to be real![/i] She wasn't sure about that, even if it was probably true. To be honest, who really cared? What was happening now was happening now, and she could deal with the rest later. What was happening now was her small frame pressed against his great, white body, and that was all she cared about.

He saw the perfect place, then, as she pressed her face against his shoulder. It was a peice of land that stuck out into a small, mist-covered pond. A huge willow tree, almost ageless in itself, it seemed, rested at the end. The great, hanging branches created a low shield of silvery leaves - it was perfect. He gave her a gentle nudge, and lead her that way, breeze stirring his long white fur just slightly.

Of course, fate had supplied the perfect place for them. All seemed to fit, and for once, she stopped argueing with herself. That second voice seemed to have nothing to say, so it retreated to brood in the back of her mind. She let her paws fall into the male's prints as she slowed to walk behind him, hesitating for a minute. She didn't want to go right into that circle within the willows, not yet... she didn't feel quite right about it. Not quite this soon, anymore.

He looked back at her with curious eyes, tail giving a gentle and inviting wag. Why, he wondered, was she stopping? He suddenly felt concerned, his mouth falling open again - did she feel as though they had moved too fast? Did she... not like that? He waited for her, quite but accepting, to see what she would do. If she ran, he would follow, he didn't doubt that. If this was not what she wanted, well... he could do nothing about that. He would simply have to accept it, and move on, no matter how much he would wish it wasn't so.

She walked slowly pase him, curled tail swaying slowly in the breeze. She moved past the edges of the willow, shuddering gently with anticipation as the low branches brushed against her side. She sat, alone, at the edge of the water, staring across the misty surface. She couldn't hear him behind her, and yet she somehow knew he had followed her. She looked over her shoulder, blinking softly. "I just... need a moment." Now that she'd stopped to think about it, she suddenly wasn't so sure.

"Of course... I understand." He stood at her side, understanding, and looked out over the water with her. He let himself think as well, staring out at the misty surroundings. Somehow, however, it didn't take much. He knew what he wanted already, and his gaze soon drifted back to her. She was different, yes, and she might have been anything but beautiful to some. He leaned over then, giving her cheek a soft lick. As he had thought before, it was a different kind of beauty - and it suited her well, he thought.

He was making it hard to think, but maybe that was a good thing. Maybe... maybe you weren't meant think, at times like this. Maybe you WERE supposed to just... do things. Just follow your heart, your gut, and just... do it. She looked over at him again, and she couldn't keep in a gentle sigh. She tilted her head up, and licking him back on the muzzle. Thinking, she supposed, was overrated at times like this. Sometimes, it seemed, you just needed to act.

It seemed to him as though she had decided, and he let out another breath of rainbow colors. It danced in front of her, illuminating her face in the morning light. It was a sight to behold for him, and it made the warmth in him begin to burn hot as a fire. He fluttered his wings gently, turning to face the willow tree. He waited, one paw raised like at their meeting, and looked back at her as he softly spoke. "...are you coming, pretty lady?"

She stood, shaking out her fur and rustling her smaller wings. She took one last look around the water, before she closed her eyes and let her inhibitions flow out. Don't think, she whispered to herself, and a chill went down her spine. Just... do. Sighing to herself, breath mingling with his dazzling rainbow mists, she turned to follow him. "...yes, I'm coming." With that she followed him, side by side, through the curtain of willow branches, and let herself live in the moment.
