Starbright didn't even hesitate. She had indeed thought of this a great deal. "I don't really care about the genders of the others." She began. "But I would really like the first born to be a male. Every little volpe pup should have a big brother to look up to." She smiled calmly at the thought. They would make sure to raise their first litter well so that they in turn could teach the other litters, and their second litter could take over teaching when their first litter grew and so on.

Starlight had never thought of it that way, and secretly wanted their first pup to be a female, simply because he had heard they were a bit easier to raise than males. Well, at least one of them would get what they wanted when the first pup was born, unless it was genderless, which he highly doubted. "Have you thought about names at all?" He asked next.

Now this was the one part of their pups that Starbright hadn't thought of at all. "No." She said with a slight blinking of her eyes. "Have you?" She began to think up names. Names like Gemini and Scorpio, Pegasus and Dipper. Names that related to constellations. She didn't say them yet though, she wanted to hear what he had to say first.

Starlight grinned. "It's all I can think about lately. On the way here I thought of Arrow, Heli and Copter." He gave a slight laugh. "I have at least a hundred more flaoting in my head, but I can't think of which ones would be good to use, or any of them at all to tell you the truth.

Starbright blinked in surprise. His name choises were much more different than hers. "I thought up Gemini, Scorpio, Pegasus and Dipper while we were sitting here." She said. "I think that we should likely wait until the pups are born before choosing names for them though. After all, they might not fit the personality that goes with their name. She smiled a bit. "They'll be plenty of time to figure out what names we should give them after the pups are born.

Starlight blinked as well. He liked her name choices better, they fit in more. A constellation theme would be wonderful for their pups. Or perhaps a mix of constellation and otherwise? He really did like the name Arrow for one of them. "That is true." He said with a smile. "And I'm sure they'll get easier to name the more litters we have." He added, looking up at the moon. Time seemed to have passed quicker than he would have thought. It was almost the time when their purpose for being here would be fulfilled.

Starbright seemed to grasp this at the same time as Starlight had."So soon." She murmured, snuggling up closer to him. Unlike most volpes, who were usually a bit nervous at their first breeding, or excited, Starbright was calmly watching the moon, watching its progress across the sky. "We should always come here when the stars are out." She said. "It's so peaceful."

Starlight wasn't at all confused by her change in the subject. He was used to it by now when she spoke what was on his mind, they were that alike, or perhaps they just knew each other's thoughts better than most. "Yes." He said, looking around. Their meadow was deserted, and he couldn't see or smell any other volpes. They might be the only ones in the garden for all he knew. Just them and the stars, unblinking, other worldly watchers. He felt at peace under their steady gaze, and with Starbright at his side.

Starbright smiled suddenly, larger than she had yet that day as she looked at the moon. It had shifted position enough. "Starlight, Starbright, first star I see tonight." She said suddenly, shifting her attention to a star that hung low on the horizon, looking close enough to reach out and scoop up. "Wish I may, wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight." Then, she whispered. "Please let our pups be healthy."
She got up suddenly, tail wagging gently, at the same pace as her voice. "Starlight?" She said, licking his ears softly. "It's time, come with me."

Starlight too got to his paws, and began to follow his mate off into the denser part of the forest, where the stars couldn't watch them. He didn't know why volpes chose a place different from where they had bonded to mate, or what Starbright's wish had been, but he didn't question her. Tonight, today, right now, was why they were here, and Starbright's luminous form was the only thing that mattered.
