Aww, look at you getting all sentimental She couldn't help laughing a little. It wasn't a cruel laugh, more like a playful one There's no shame in being a star swot. I can teach you a bit about them if you like
It was a surprise to Nadir that she'd offered so willingly. To be honest, she wasn't sure why she had. She supposed she was actually a little curious about this male now. After all, she had only seen him from a distance.
He had, rather annoyingly ignored her comment on his name. She had been lying slightly-while it didn't really matter what he was called, it would have been nice to know it

He was about to protest when her proposal silenced him. Calling it surprising would be the understatement of the century. He tilted his head in surprise. He'd be allowed to see her? Great! He was beginning to think he'd never see her face.
I suppose it would be quite interesting to find out about them He tried to sound nonchalant, wagging his tail casually You'd have to start from the beginning though. I'm afraid my starry knowledge is limited He couldn't help trying to see her once again, leaning forward and concentrating on the spot where she was hidden. Nope, nothing. He'd just have to wait then

Alright, time to meet this male. She was feeling slightly nervous now, but there was no way she was going to let it show. Until now, she had been in charge, the mystery girl. Now she felt like she was relinquishing control slightly, and she wasn't sure she liked it.
Taking a deep breath, she slowly stepped out from behind the bush. She walked at an even pace until she stood about three feet away from the Volpe. Confidently, she met his gaze. She could tell his eyes must be a pinky-red colour, since they appeared deep purple in the dark light of night. She wasn't going to look at the rest of him yet. She wanted to know his reaction

All Diego could do was stare. If he was completely honest, he wasn't expecting her to be pretty. If she was gorgeous, why would she have hid from him for so long? He certainly wasn't expecting anything like this beauty who stood before him now.
Her fur appeared a bright blue in the midnight light, her markings only complimenting this look. She looked slender, yet strong, like she could take care of herself. Her eyes glowed brightly in contrast to the rest of her body, and Diego couldn't help noticing she had three tails. He opened his mouth to comment, then decided to save it for later.
Wow

She couldn't help laughing once more at his reaction. At least it gave her a little confidence boost though. She had never been one to bother about appearances much, but it was nice to know she looked pretty.
Which brought her to this male's appearance. Close-up, his fur still appeared dark-raspberry. Using her basic experience of being outside at night a lot, Nadir could work out that this meant his fur was either a reddy-colour, or orange. He had extraordinarily similar markings to herself, which must be close to a pink colour. He had an air of confidence about him, but he didn't seem obnoxious about it. Maybe she could like this Volpe.
Come on then She began to walk over to the small lake where the male had been sitting before Time to show you the stars

He began to follow her, his paws making a gentle swishing sound on the grass. Diego sat where he was indicated to, and tilted his head towards the sky. He wasn't usually so eager to learn, but when his teacher looked like this...
He listened patiently to her while she talked. Actually, the stars were pretty interesting. He repeated things back to her when prompted to, and even managed to locate several of the lesser-known stars himself. Not too shabby He thought proudly to himself, his tail giving a confident swish

He was a quick learner, that was for sure. Nadir wasn't sure how long they talked for as she explained various things that she knew. When she felt like she had told him all the basics and could think of no more to say, she flopped onto her back, exhausted.
Class dismissed She said with a grin. Against the odds, she had actually had a pretty good time with this male. She thought of Octile and felt a brief stab of guilt. It didn't last long. While Nadir was fond of Octile, she was still pretty mad at him for trying to tell her what to do You can tell me your name now if you like

He couldn't help grinning back as he belly-flopped down in the grass opposite her. He'd spent so long with her and she didn't even know his name.
It's Diego While not an average name, he had to admit it sounded pretty plain next to Nadir. No cool meaning either-just a bit of a random choice. He didn't want to spoil the moment, what with the stars and all, but he couldn't help asking her something in return.
Why do you have three tails? Darn. He'd been meaning to work his way up to that, as opposed to just blurting it out I just wondered because, well...Don't take this the wrong way but don't Volpes usually have one or two? That's it, he had blown his chances

Diego? It sounded flash, confident...Suited this Volpe down to a tee. She was pleased she now knew his name. It was nice to be able to refer to him as something other than 'the male'.
His question surprised her, and she felt a blush creeping on her cheeks. She got to her feet self-consciously, and turned her head away, clearly embarrassed.
I'm...I'm not really sure to be honest She admitted, her head drooped downwards Guess I must be some kind of...mutant She sub-consciously swished her three tails out of view. Why did he have to point them out?

A stab of guilt ran through Diego. He hadn't meant to upset her! Quickly he jumped to his feet, shook himself over and rushed to stand next to her.
Look, I didn't mean- He broke off, feeling stupid. He didn't want her to think he was insulting her Hey, if you are a mutant you're a beautiful one. I don't think your tails are weird, I was just a bit curious that's all. Sorry I upset you His own tail thumped on the ground a few times. He felt upset now-they'd been having a good time and he'd just ruined it.
You mean that? Nadir lifted her head and met Diego's gaze You think I'm beautiful? Diego blushed awkwardly, realizing too late what he'd said. He nodded sheepishly, much to Nadir's delight.
Sort of She laughed again. Diego smiled-she had a pretty laugh, and he was glad she was no longer upset.
Well, in that case, you're sort of cute She beamed, giving him an affectionate nudge. He practically jumped three foot off the ground in surprise, but fortunately managed to pull himself together enough to give her a nudge back. She stood there, smiling happily. She knew she'd have to deal with Octile when she went back home, but she wasn't thinking about that right now. Life was too short and all that jazz
