Snowy tugged on the leash, trying to get Bartholome to walk next to her. She sighed; this was hopeless! How could she hope to train this Volpe anything?! She wasn't that experienced with training anything yet. The sun was just raising above the far hills that marked where her home was. They were far off, in the Training Fields Snowy heard were ideal for training your Volpe. Barty tugged against his leash again- he was jumping at a squirrel that chittered in annoyance and dashed away up a tree, trying to find safety away from the menace that was Bartholome. "Alright boy. You're gonna learn your name. Doesn't that sound fun?" Snowy asked the Welcome Volpe in a happy tone. The Volpe leaned down, wagging his three tails furiously. He looked up at her with a playful glint in his eyes. Oh dear. Snowy thought to herself. This is gonna take a while.

Chewy! Bartholome thought to himself as he nibbled on the leash. Before he could really get into chewing it, though, he got a short, soft rap on the muzzle. "Don't, Barty, bad. Don't chew on the leash." he heard his owner say. He grudingly let it go. His muzzle still felt tingly from the tap anyways.
And then a treat was waved in front of his face. TREAT! He started to pant and made to bite it out of her hand, but she pulled away. "No, Barty. I need to teach you your name with these treats. Now." she backed away a few steps and said, "Bartholome!"
He tilted his head slightly, wondering why she was calling him that. But she had treats. He made his way over to her and snagged the treat out of her hand. Yum, bacon-flavored!

Snowy tried not to smile, but how cute was that head tilt! She suppressed an 'awww~' and instead replaced it with an angry huff. The tips of her fingers throbbed where Barty's teeth had grazed them. She didn't want to tell him he was bad just yet, as it might mess with learning his name. His one track mind could only go so far. She grabbed another treat from her pocket and this time concealed it within her hand. She repeated what she did before- taking a few steps away and calling out his name.
"Bartholome! Barty!"
She held out her fist, but did not reveal the treat.

Bartholome narrowed his eyes; again with that call? He was slightly confused. He sat down and began to pant, watching Snowy with a happy glazed over look.
Totally. Clueless.
----
Snowy sighed and closed her eyes. Her fingers massaged her temples, and she tried to find her center. Snowy, if you get frustrated now, you'll just get more frustrated later. Just... focus. She slowly opened her curled fist and called out, "Barty!"

A treat!
He got up and trotted toward her, wagging his tail happily as he went to grab the treat from her hands. The thing that his owner kept saying to him was starting to stick in his head. Maybe she was talking to him. He wondered what the word stood for.
----
Snowy sighed; he had come again, but again only for the promised treat. He was more gentle this time though, licking it up from her hands instead of snapping at it like a starved hound. She gave him a small pat. "Good Barty." she said with a smile.

Barty was beginning to like that word. 'Barty'... it had a nice ring to it. He wasn't sure about Bartholome, though it sounded sort of like Barty. He wagged his one middle tail. Looking up at her, he seemed to be trying to ask her if she had anymore treats.
----
Snowy smiled wider- he seemed to be getting it! She pulled another treat out of her pocket, making sure to hide it behind her back before Barty thought hard enough to watch her. "Alright, Barty. Barty, Bartholome..." she said, walking away slowly from the dog. She dropped his leash and backed away slowly, waiting to see if the Volpe got it.

Barty realized that whenever he answered to that word, he got a treat. He wagged his tails and trotted after her, hoping to recieve another treat.
----
Snowy was ready to cheer with happiness. He was getting it! Barty was getting it! Now, to make him understand that it's his name, not just another word for come. "Barty! Bartholome." she shouted. Hopefully he would understand that that meant stop what he was doing. Though he was still learning...

Bartholome stopped and folded back his ears. Why was she yelling? He stopped- he thought the word was something good. Was it something bad? He tilted his head to the side, his brow scrunching up as if deep in thought. Why was she confusing him?!
----
Snowy almost fell over when she saw how disgruntled the Volpe was. "Argh!" she shouted, throwing up her hands. Don't get- aw, the heck with it! I'll get frustrated if I want to. she thought to herself, grabbing the sides of her head. Taking a deep breath, she tried to focus enough to try again.

Batholome laid down- he didn't like how Snowy was screaming at him. He let out a short, angry bark at her, his eyes narrowed. He hoped she got the message of "stop yelling at me!", but he couldn't be too sure. Humans were always pretty stupid.
----
Snowy breathed deeply. All right. One more time. she thought to herself, inhaling. You can do this. Alright.
"Bartholome?" she called to the dog, softly, but friendly. "Bartholome...~" she called, clapping her hands.

He felt something click in his head. Am I Bartholome? I guess I am- she won't give up calling that name. he thought to himself. Might as well see if that's what it is. Coming! He trotted over to her, his tails wagging close to the ground. He was still wary- what if she yelled at him again?
----
Snowy smiled wide as Bartholome got closer... closer... yes!
"Good boy, Bartholome, good boy!" she cooed, scratching him on the head. "You're a good Bartholome, yes you are~!"
