[Uso]

Oshi gently patted Broken on the head. "We have a lot of work to do," she stated as the brute flicked his ears. "Remember this?" She held out a stick. "Bite." It took a few seconds for Broken to remember what that meant, but he quickly snapped his jaws down on the stick, breaking it into several pieces. "Good boy!" the girl said, patting him again. "I'm glad you haven't forgotten!" Something else that she wouldn't have been able to blame him for... She hadn't told him to bite anything in a very long time. At least he did still remember, though, so that would make things so much easier for her.

Now that Uso knew for sure that the Volpe hadn't forgotten it, she took a match and set a stick on fire. "Bite!" she demanded. The Volpe only starred at the burning stick. Why would she want him to bite something like that? "Bite," the girl repeated. After a moment, Broken opened his jaws and snapped the twig again. That was a good start. Hopefully this would start making some form of sense to him pretty quickly. "Good boy, Broken!" the girl said happily as she scratched his ear. He was a fast learner, though... so hopefully it wouldn't be far too bad. As long as she could keep this up without burning herself or setting something on fire...

The girl tapped her nose lightly. She wasn't entirely sure if she could make something work or not... but hopefully it would. She set another stick on fire and held it out to him. "Flame bite!" She demanded. Though it was a new way of saying it, the word "bite" was still there, so it seemed to be that Broken understood it. After just a few seconds, he opened his jaws and slammed his fangs down on the stick, smoke filling his maw. Uso really hoped that this wasn't going to hurt his lungs or anything, but since he was a fire Volpe, it probably wouldn't. "Good boy!" she said again, petting him. "You're doing so well!"

Though Uso thought that Broken probably sort of understood what she meant, she just wanted to be entirely sure of it. She took another stick and set it on fire. "Flame bite!" the girl demanded. Yet again, Broken opened his jaws and slashed the stick in two. "What a good boy you are!" she said, jumping up and down a little, which made Broken jump along with her. "You're doing so well, yes you are!" She patted his head and rubbed his ears. Too bad now she would have to try to figure out how to actually get him to bite the stick and cause the fire on his own...

Uso thought for a moment, then grabbed another stick. Surely he got the idea that saying "flame bite" meant that fire was involved, right? The girl held out the stick, but she didn't set it on fire this time around. "Flame bite!" she demanded. The Volpe blinked at the stick for a moment, then looked up at the girl. There wasn't any fire on this. What did she want him to do? "Flame bite!" She demanded again. After a moment, Broken opened his jaws and slammed them down onto the stick, little sparks coming from his teeth. When he let go, the girl started jumping up and down again. "Good boy!" she squeeked as Broken started to jump too, his tail wagging. "Good boy!"

Once Uso managed to calm herself down, she felt like she should probably try to get Broken to bite the stick one more time, just to be sure that he really did get the basic idea of "flame biting." She clapped to get Broken's attention, as he had turned to stare at a bird. Thankfully he looked right back at her. "Alright!" she said as she grabbed another stick. "Flame bite!" Broken was probably getting bored of this task, but he still opened his mouth and closed it on the stick, sparkes flying from his teeth, and smoke coming from his nostrils. The girl squeeked a little with glee. "Good boy!" she said, petting him happily.

Though Broken had indeed gotten the idea of flame bite, and fairly quickly at that, the girl felt like he could make it a little stronger. Sure, sparks and smoke happened to be very nice for it, but he was a powerful Volpe! Why couldn't he do more damage? Uso pulled out another stick and held it out to him. "Flame bite!" she said. Right away, the Volpe opened his jaws and clenched his teeth down onto the stick. Before he could let go, Uso repeated "Flame bite!" Obviously the Volpe was a little confused, but he continued to bite down, more sparks flying from between his teeth. After a moment, small flames started to come through, as well, as the stick started to singe.

Uso started jumping up and down again. "Good boy!" she said as she patted his head. At least he got the basic idea of how strong to be. Of course, she wasn't quite done. That had to be done in an instant... The girl pulled out another stick and held it out in front of his nose. "Flame bite!" she commanded. The Volpe quickly bit the stick and held down. "Flame bite!" she repeated. Yet again, the Volpe started to spark and flame, quickly setting the stick on fire when he dropped it. "You really are doing well, Broken!" the girl squeeked happily. "This is fabulous!"

Hopefully now Broken would understand that he needed to turn up the heat the first time. It made no sense for her to have to repeat something multiple times for him to just get to the right temperature. "One more time, Broken," the girl said as she pulled out her last stick. "Flame bite!" As always, Broken did as he was told. Thankfully sparkes quickly turned into flames, engulfing the stick in fire. The Volpe dropped the stick, the two pieces quickly turning into ash. "Good boy, Broken!" the girl said again. Surely this had to be getting boring for him. Where were his treats? "You really are a good boy." The girl kissed his nose.

Though Broken had done very well with finishing his Flame Bite training and deserved a rest, the girl really just wanted to keep him as motivated as she possibly could. Right now, she felt like teaching him something else would be a good idea. She had built little boxes earlier in the day, all of which had several little holes in them. Inside these boxes were treats... and each treat smelled absalutely delicious. Well, delicious to a Volpe! She felt like it would be a fairly good idea to try to teach Broken how to slash... It wasn't an entirely useful thing, but maybe then she could teach him how to dig, too? That would be useful later on!

Oshi carefully set one of the boxes down on the ground and knelt down beside it. "Come, Broken!" she called to the Volpe, who had been relaxing under a tree. After a moment, the Volpe reluctantly got up from his spot and trotted over to the girl, sitting down beside her. She held the box in front of his nose for a second, then placed it back down on the grass. "Get the treat, boy!" she said. The Volpe blinked at her for a moment, then sniffed at the box. What was he suppose to do with this? He snorted, then looked back at the girl. He couldn't get in there! That surely wasn't fair, for her to put his treat in some form of box so he can't get it!

Uso sighed lightly. "Come on, Broken," she whined, making the Volpe's ears flick back. The girl held the box in front of Broken again, which he sniffed. His nose followed after the box as it was placed back on the ground. "Here," she said, then scratched lightly at the box. "Slash," she said. The Volpe only flicked his ear. Uso wasn't really all that surprised, though, since she knew he probably didn't care all that much about that word, especially since he hadn't ever heard it before. After a moment, the girl lifted his paw and scratched his claws against the box. "Slash," she repeated. The Volpe, though, still didn't quite understand.

The girl sighed. "You can't get the treat if you don't scratch it!" she said as she started scratching at the box again. After a few moments, the brute lifted up his paws and gently scratched at the box. That was a start, but surely not good enough. "Slash!" She said, digging her nails into the light box. It wasn't very strong, but that was okay... She had stronger boxes for later. Broken blinked at the girl again. Did she want him to scratch it, or was she doing it for him? Obviously not, though... as the human lifted his paw again and scratched his paws against the light wood. "Slash!" This wasn't going to be at all easy for Uso, or Broken.

Now that Oshi had been scratching with Broken's paws for a while, she let it hit the dirt again. "Slash!" she demanded. Though, yes, the Volpe did lift his paw and scratch at the box, he still wasn't scratching all that hard. "Slash!" she demanded again, making the Volpe dig his claws into the box a little more. He was getting a little better and all, but he still wasn't breaking the box. That was actually starting to irritate the Volpe, so he himself lifted his paw and let his paw fly past the box, his claws tearing the wood as he went along. "Slash!" Oshi said, as she started petting the Volpe. "Good boy!" Obviously, though, Broken was more interested in the treat.

While Broken was finishing off his treat, the girl removed the first box and replaced it with a new one. It was only a little bit stronger, but still strong enough that Broken would have to work at it to get the box open for his treat. "Look, Broken!" Uso said. "There's another treat in here!" The Volpe's ears flicked up at the word "treat." Of course, his ears went back again when he realized it was another box. The girl pointed at it. "Slash," she said. When Broken refused, she lifted his paw for him and scratched at the box. "Slash!" she said again, more demanding this time. She knew that he had to know what it meant by now.
