Teena sat in her cage in the pickup truck, with Fallingfeather driving beside her. "Oh yeah, your just going to love your new mate, Teena." she said, comforting her Gryph Volpe. Apparently, her "mate" was sitting in the back of the pickup truck, because there wasn't anymore room in the front. So she coulden't even SEE her mate. She could only see the top of his cage if she turned around. Hopefully, he would be nice, in personality and looks. 1

So, he was going to the breeding gardens. Or atleast thats what his owner had been quietly talking to herself about when she put him in the back of the truck. He sat quiet and low, to avoid messing up his awesome hair. Perhaps he would get some heirs to his "kingdom" of Volpes now. 2

Fallingfeather pulled up at the end of the dirt road, leading into the breeding gardens. Fallingfeather stopped the truck, opened the door, grabbed Teena's cage, and carefuly stepped out. She walked around to the back of the truck, where King was waiting in his cage. She opened up the side of Teena's cage, and Teena slid herself out. She then heaved her upper body up onto the bed of the truck, laying her eyes of her mate for the first time.

King looked down upon the Gryph Volpe, that was apparently his mate. She was... easy on the eyes. Hopefully, she would make a good queen, or atleast provide him with an heir. He raised his snout, all princely-like, and looked down at her. "Hello." he said, with a posh accent to his manly voice. Fallingfeather giggled at his antics, and went for the latch on his cage too.

Teena turned her head slightly at King, as Fallingfeather opened his cage door. What was with his personality? Was he always like that? A snooty, snotty prince? Who knew. She would definitely have to get to know him more. She backes down as he elegantly leaped offthe truck bed.

Fallingfeather secured the cage to the truck bottom, walked to the front of the truck, and stopped. She turned around and said cheerily to her Volpes, "See ya later, you two lovebirds!" and she drove away, to return later and check their progress. King turned to Teena. "So, what is your name, little Gryph?" he said.

Little Gryph? Did he really just call her that? Maybe he was meaner and snootier and more princely then she thought he might be. She would give him more chances, but he'd better shape up soon. She asnwered his question anyways. "My name... is Teena. Not "little Gryph". May ask what your name is?"

Asking her king a question? Speaking without being spoken to? Where did this Volpe learn her manners! Then again, he would have to be polite, seeing as his master wanted her to become his mate. Hopefully, she would learn something while they were together. "I am King." He said, with his signature head lifting, making him look taller, and more regal and powerful.

King? Well, he certainly acted like one... or atleast like a snotty prince. She nodded at him. Okay... mabey things were getting better, atleast they had each others names... but that was a pretty big mabey. She trotted into a nearby forest, hoping King would follow along. "So, uh, King, was it? Tell me more about yourself..."

King watched her walk away, and hesitantly followed. "Me? Oh, I'm just ruler of a many amount of Volpes, and one of my best servants is that Winged Bird-girl that calls herself our master." He snorted "Master. Ha! Shes just a peasant with big dreams." By this point, he had easily caught up with Teenas quick trot. He was now matching it on his own, stride for stride. He looked at Teena, trying to tell what she thought of him, looking into her eyes. But, she masked her emotions cleverly. This might be harder then he thought.

Fallingfeather as a peasant? She knew he was lying, or had a really big imagination. But... mabey that wasn't such a bad thing. She could tell there was a kinder Volpe under the spoiled rotten skin. "Huh. Well, Ive lived on my own my entire life, and I've never even heard of this amazing, big kingdom you have. What is it called, again?"

King smiled awkwardly. "Um... it doesn't really have a name... and its not very big either... but is amazing. Im absolutely sure youll love it." Then he realized, for her to even remotely like him, he'd have to be alot more polite to her. "I mean... if you WANT to..." He forced what he was hoping was a friendly smile onto his face.

Teena looked at the maned royal Volpe, smiling in her head. Through the forced smile, she could see he was genuinely trying to be nice. She smiled too. "Well. Mabey someday I will visit your little kingdom. I mean, you WANT me to." She grinned even more, hoping he would understand the "joke".

King looked at her for a minute, then realized she was slightly mocking what he had said. "Oh... well...heh ...um.... yeah. Nice joke there," he cleared he throat, then looked up to see that he was nearing the edge of the forest. In front of that was a large field, with flowers dotting here and there. It would be a meadow, but the summer heat had dried it up, and it had turned to a field. To his left was the cliff that lead into a deep, warm, clean pool. It was a long drop, but the water was fine and safe. "So. Um... wanna run around a bit? Or something?" he said, trying to be nice, with a warm smile.

Teena smiled. Once you got to know him a bit more, this seemingly snotty and mean "King", was actually pretty nice, if not a bit socially awkward. "Sure." she said "But your it!" she grinned it bumped him with her beak, before racing away into the field, on her long legs. Hopefully, this Volpe knew how to run, along with being princely.
