Violet X Sunray (Done, awaiting pups ^.^)

Violet suddenly felt something warm and soft underneath her. "Sunray?" She asked, her voice shaking in delayed terror, but also gratitude as she caught the sight of glowing wings. Then again, louder, and with less terror. "Sunray!" She rolled onto her front, something uite dangerous, but she didn't know that, and hugged him there high above the ground. "You saved me." She wispered wonderingly.

She suddenly gave a howl, not of lonliess or anger or pride, but one full of pure love. "I thought I was going to die." She breathed quietly, almost to herself.

Sunray landed, the snow flying up around him. He carefully slid Violet off of his back and folded his wings, then turned to look at her, deep into her beautiful purple eyes. "Did you really think I would let you die?" He asked softly, and then with a puppy-like bark, he sprang onto her and licked her in the deepest reliefe that he had ever felt in his life. "My life is nothing without you in it." He said simply between licks.

A great warmth seemed to course through him, and suddenly the snow didn't feel so cold. What did a bunch of frozen water matter when Violet was here? He knew that he would never look at life quite the same way after this.

It was Violet's turn to find herself under Sunray's paws, being frantically licked. She panted heavily, but found the strength to return his loving licks. "Sunray." She said, and her eyes seemed older, wiser. "Will you be the father of my pups?" She looked up calmly now, knowing that she had made the right decision. Love, devotion, and strength, all that she had wanted in her mate.

She waited for his answer as her racing heart slowly slowed, matching the beating of his great, strong, loving heart. "I love you Sunray." She whispered. It was the first time she had said the words.

Sunray felt as though he were walking on clouds. All his hard work, all his training and battles had brought him this, the one thing in the world that he wanted. "I love you too Violet." Was all he could say as he gazed down at her beautiful face. His licks grew more tender, like caresses on her perfect fur. "And I would be honored to be the father of your pups." His eyes sparkled with joy, but he noticed just how tired she still was. "But first." He said. "Can we watch the sun set?"

He pointed with his muzzle up at the sun. Time had passed very quickly, and the first moon of their world was setting. Soon the other two would be rising with the sinking of the sun.

Violet followed his muzzle to where the sun was going down, turning the sky into a beautiful purple. "I would like that." She said softly, getting to her paws and sitting down next to Sunray. His side felt so warm underneath her that she could almost believe it was springtime again. She daydreamed that birds were singing and the flowers were blooming as she watched the great firey ball of the sun slowly decend over the curve of the world.

She wondered suddenly where it went when it disappeared, then felt the warmth of Sunray again, and knew that to her it didn't matter. Even though the sun was disappearing, her own personal sun was staying firmly at her side.

Sunray's wings began to glow as the sun set. In the daytime, the small light that they gave off was puny compared to the sun, but at night, they glowed brightly. He watched as the sun sank further, tinging the sky with pinks and reds and oranges. Beautiful colours. It only needed green to be a full rainbow.

He shivered slightly as the land began to grow colder, and wrapped his tail around Violet, snuggling up closer to her and letting out a sigh of contentment. He wished this one moment in time would last forever.

Violet's heart soared, and it seemed to her that as the sun came closer to the edge of the world, that she could reach out with a paw and touch it. A glow made her turn her head to the left, and for a second she thought that Sunray was in fact the sun. His lovely wings were shining so bright and he felt so warm and soft.

Violet cuddled up even closer to him and layed her head on his shoulder. She suddenly wished that the sun would set faster, so she would see the full glory of Sunray's wings. She had never been with him at night, and so had no idea how bright and warm he would get.

Sunray shivered as the lack of sun began to cast a shadow on the world, and was grateful when Violet layed her head on his shoulder. She was so wonderfully warm and soft, and felt... well, right there. His wings suddenly flared brighter, not with the setting of the sun, but with the love that he felt for the female cuddled up next to him. He began to daydream again, about the sun and the flowers, flying and the soft tongue of Violet. He knew that the time when they would make something new was almost here, and he felt his heart almost bursting with love, and his wings flash brighter.

Violet was ready now. More ready than she had ever been. She had wanted pups ever since she had been given the job of training them, and loved them dearly. She had just never quite realized that she would love their father as much as she would love them, perhaps more. She had been simply looking for qualities in Sunray that she wanted in her pups, and hadn't really stopped to think about his mind and what he was thinking until he had saved her.

She knew now though that she loved him, not just for his good qualities, but for his beautiful shining wings and kind heart, and for the love he felt towards her too, and his secret that she had known all along, that he had worked hard for her. She had seen it in his eyes, in his every expression, that he had loved her from the very beginning, and finally she was loving him back too. "Sunray." She said, and licked his ear. "I think it's time now."

Sunray's wings flared brighter at the lick than they ever had before. He watched the last of the sun disappear and the other two moons begin to rise. He turned to Violet and licked her ears lovingly. "I think it's time too." He said.

The two Volpes sat there for a long time, before getting up and slowly padding away beneath the trees. Their love for each other was strong and clear, and Sunray led the way with his beautiful glowng wings. This was the perfect moment, more perfect than even the sunset had been. "I love you." He repeated again, before the sun and the flowers came together at last.
