More ideas:
What about a leafy one with leafs for wings (I know thats already been done), at the end of their talis and a leaf vine pattern on their fur?
Or a ghost one? All white and glowy?
You could do a crocadile or snake, not quite sure what they would look like though

Also, maybe some more realistic colors? Like, dusky browns or grays, things that just look like normal canines? I know they're not 'creative' or what not, but a good blend of basic tans, creams, and grays makes a really appealing effect on a critter, don't you think? =3
